Default Car will not start...(new owner question)

I have a 1996 SL2 DOHC and one day i go to start the car and it won't turn over and i noticed some smoke coming from under the dash.
It was a ground wire that had burnt up, so i regrounded it and still won't start. The car turns over repeatedly but won't run.

I began to troubleshoot, first i checked to make sure it was getting fuel which it was, and then i checked for a spark and got nothing.

A friend said it was the ignition control module, is he right? Is there a way to test mine before i have to buy a new one? Any other ideas about the problem?

if your not getting spark it could be any number of things. If it is just one wire that burnt, you might want to look into what wire it was. There is a pinout of your entire PCM wire harness. Find out what the burnt wire belonged to and go from there. Im guessing it will be your crank sensor.
