i always hear people tell me not to push it too hard. But hey, ever since i got my lisense, i've pushed it. Sometimes u got to to keep up. But on another note, i've pushed it to 106 mph (just last night actually) keepin it in 3rd gear. Does anybody else really push there Saturns? Cause i do. Even toppin the 2nd gear out to where the limiter kicks in.

No, I have never ever felt the need or reason to drive at excessive speeds. Not only is it bad for the car, but it may very well be illegal depending on where you are driving. Personally I save the speeding for the race car drivers out there, but I am fine running things as usual with the regular speed limit.

I'm with you. I might get 5mph over the posted limit but not much more, and only on a clear dry road. I am not about to risk the issues associated with a fast car stopping. Our bodies aren't meant to go that fast and the result is abysmal to say the least.

obviously that is true, but i've only done this at night like round mid night, wheres there is no one around. and yeah its illegal here. i mean come on, its 106 mph. thats enough for reck less driving, excessive speeding, and possibly loosing my insurance. But hey, whats wrong with pushing it. If u buy performance parts for it, then why not push it. Its like, I've been told that to know where to buy performance parts for your car, you have to drive it for awhile to get to know the car and know its area lacking power. but yeah, i like to have a rush everynow and then. i think i might go get a video camera and film me doing it, it'll be at night tho. not doing it in the day with all the cops out.

your obviously some kid who thinks that speeding is cool... I was there at one point, but I grew up fast. I lost my license on many occasions and have skyrocketted my insurance. From that i learned this.... I want to go faster.

That being said. There is a time and a place.. And a race track is the only place. You might think pushing your saturn to 106 is a rush... Try smoking a v6 Firebird, or a Supercharged Mercedas. Then talk to me about your fast car. Saturns are NOT fast by factory. And performance parts are a joke. You did wat, bought an intake and had it installed for you. Maybe some $20 spark plugs with expensive wires. or and MSD coil pack. None of those make your car faster. (the intake maybe... but only by 1-2 HP) There are no bolt-on parts to make your saturn go faster.

Take it apart and rebuild it yourself, with forged internals, modified transmission, and piggyback computer so you can control fuel and spark yourself instead of the car doing it. Then get a turbo. And no you can't just bolt it on. You gotta find a manifold that isn't sold in stores, find a way to get oil from the back of your engine to your turbo, then find a way to moniter all of it from inside the car so you know if your car is going to blow. And how about some suspension to handle your new power. Try doing it without an instruction booklet. And all this is custom work because nobody at a "performance parts store" will know enough about saturns to help you.

Thats why we have forums... to help each other along from those of us that have done it already. Unless your willing to be a mechanic and your own sponsor.... Don't bother bragging about "pushing" your saturn.

I'm not "some kid," I am a adult, a big brother, a human being. So don't talk to me like i'm 12. I bought the intake and put it on myself. $20 spark plugs? no. $40 spark plugs, Champion Iridium spark plugs. No DER, I know you can't just bolt on parts. What kind of an idiot is that. Instructions are pointless, I found that out putting my intake on. Have you scared the living day lights out of someone driving a 07 350Z nismo? Didn't think so. I know when to slow down, who said I think speeding is cool? Its not cool if you speed everyday. Its ok to push it once in awhile. You obviously think I am a ricer with that "some kid" remark. Screw that crap. The only body mod I will do is a hood scoop in front of my intake to get more cooler air into the engine since SC2's don't have a grill any where.


Sorry bout the late post people. Having internet problems. This is a topic I would like to see develope into a nice discussions, without people dissing what they have done.

Honestly go to the track if you want to push it. People may not be out there, but animals are. You say your an adult so im sure you can do the math and know that its quite dangerous at those speeds. Im sure you know the braking distance almost doubles not even factoring in the distance you travel before your foot even gets to the brake pedal.

And yes ive pushed it. However its been a long time since ive pushed it in the higher gears (i was stupid then). 1st gear ad 2nd gear is usually the only gears i "push" it.

Speaking of pushing the car. Over here in the UK we have a serious problem with young drivers who once they get hold of a driving licence, they think they are immortal. When I was still driving, it used to really get on my nerves at junctions or roundabouts if a young driver in a small hatchback that had been modded to the knees, sat alongside me, revving the nuts off his engine as if to say 'you can't catch me'. Trouble was that they thought they were brilliant drivers with a powerful little car with go faster stripes. My car was a Toyota Turbo 3ltr Supra that I had rebuilt and tweaked a little. They had absolutely no chance against it, but they always tried it on.

I used to assist part time in wreck recovery and the times I got a call out to young drivers who had smashed the car up through sheer stupidity and inexperience. One of these was a 5 door Escort...bald tyres, no seatbelts no nothing. The 17 yr old driver and his 3 mates, all dead...brain tissue and goodness knows what else everywhere...one of the passengers had been decapitated from being thrown out the hatchback. Found out afterwards that the fool had been racing another mate and lost it on a bend.

'Pushing' a car just ain't worth it...cars kill especially in the hands of those who think they are immortal.

I took out my 'need for speed' on the dragstrip where its regulated and safe (or relatively safe).

Just don't try and be immortal...not worth it and your parents really do not want to have that knock on the door or that phone call telling them that their child is dead in a car crash.

A driver died outside our home two nights ago from "pushing it". The boat, trailer and tree he hit also didn't make it. There are speed limits for a reason, even if you don't know what they are.
