Default 1997 Saturn SC2? What's it worth?

I was thinking of trading in the 00 SL1 for a 97 SC2. Does anyone think it is a bad idea? The SC2 has leather moonroof and it's the DOHC model.

Thanks for any help.

Performance wise....hell yes.

Finacially, might be different story. Did you buy the SL1 new and how much do you still owe on it? Car purchases are never "worth" it. They are the stupidest investment behind a boat. At least you are willing to go down in years to make up for the money lost.

No I did not buy it new. I got it for $10,000(cdn) on the road with a 26,000km/2 year warr. That is long gone. I have put alot of km's on it. I broke the tranny in two pieces and had to put new ing. coils on it. It has had a hard life with me but it still runs very good. It is stock with no power nothing. I will find out more info on the other one and let you guys know. Is there anything generally that goes wrong with those years?
Thanks for the help.
Jeff

It looks pretty good. How much money do you think you can get for your SL1?

Not shure, he is bringing the car here today so I can look at it. If I could do an even trade that would be fine with me.

I would much rather have the SC2, but the problem is your SL1 isn't worth much. The trade-in is like $2500 if it is in real good condition, less if not so good. you could maybe get $3000 if you sell it outright. The hard reality is, Saturn has terrible resell value. I traded my '97 SC2 about three years ago and only got $3000 for it. Almost $7000 is wayyyyyy to high for a 97 Saturn no matter what kind of features it has. If you want to finance it, the bank will tell you to get bent.

Keep your car until it is payed off, save about $3000, sell your car locally, go out an buy a $5000-$6000 car adn pay cash.

Good luck

Bill
