I had one SMS rep claim a power gain of around 8, and another claim a typical range of around 5 hp with the JG's. In any event, they're the mildest grind available. If you're not so certain about getting them, you could wait a bit until Todd's (TKT 13) redone motor is adjusted and broken in and see how the cams end up affecting the motor. It's just been rebuilt and he was saying it doesn't seem to pull hard until around 5k right now. Of course, that may be a function of the porting combined with the cams as well, but the final results of the cams may not have come yet. My motor (being built) is a virtual twin of Todd's, and I have a set of the JG's also. Definitely planning on a dyno run when it's installed and broken in.

You guy's must remember that this engine isn't fully broken in yet.
The day Joey and I took the car out of the shop it did only start to pull hard at 5k, BUT now since it's alittle more broken in, it is starting to pull around 3k. Starting out from a stop is still tricky. But that will go away over time since the forged internals will take awhile to fully break in.
This engine sounds like a desiel truck.LOL. But it's a cool sound though.
Besides, this car doesn't act like a 4cly. anymore. It's more like a V6 was put into it than a 2.0ltr conversion 4cly.

Yes accel coil packs suck! mine were only 1 1/2 yrs. old and they died.
On the drive back home from Joe's, the car only used 1/2 quart of oil, witch was put in before i got out of Florida. 1500 miles and using 1/2 quart of oil is great. I went through 4 quarts going to Joey's <btw>.

I forgot...............the car does idle now, lumpy, but it idles.

later

and I remember Joey saying that a little oil burning (for the first little while) is ok for a new motor as it breaks in. By the way Todd, are you going to use a Mobile One and regular oil self blend like a lot of people seem to be doing now? I'm going to use that magnets on the oil filter/oil pan trick also.

yup, ALL new motors it IS normal for some oil to burn even my 14 new caddys all with northstarts said it in the manuals, its normal to lose about a half quart, now hes broken in he shouldnt bnurn ANY oil, he is broken in he drove home 1500 miles, thats why im concerned he may have gotten the old grinds. i found them a little to lumpy for my tastes/engines.customers.
and the engien runs like a champ, crack the throttle and its right there, so theres no miss's or anything
now being bored to .40 over brings you both EXACTLY ONE CUBIC INCH BELOW 2.0 liters, the increased displacment, along with much more rotational mass, due to the heavier corwer rods may explain some of it also, the car is begging for a fiddy shot, one he has that, hell have both low end pull and the top end.
these motors are designed to totally hanlde up to 9k rpm, thats what your paying for, funny, the stock 13k engine on type r sticker boys cars blew up, but todd drove home with one of our engines with absoltuley no problems....tell any of the old timers on the board something??!!

ps ed since your in a mild climate you should run straight 40 weight in your engine after break in. straight 30 during break in.

would 3000 (one oil change) be ok for break in on the 30 weight before I switch to the 40 weight sythetic blend?

no, the first oil change should be done between 500 -1500 miles, then go to straight 40
dont forget, all saturn owners, every 3rd oil change you should add 2 cups of marvel mystery oil to your oil and run the car for 10-20 minutes, then chnage your oil as normal. this cleans your lifters and helps free sticking rings.
ive been preaching about the marvel since i been on the net giving advice, unlike other cleaners its NOT kerosene based, those flushs do mroe harm then good, as they clean they wash the oil off the cyl walls, use marvel every 3 oil changes and youll have a happy car.

Ahahahaha Marvel Mystery Oil. My friend had a tapping valve in an Eclipse he was trying to sell last year, he put that **** in there and it stopped tapping just long enough for the car to sell, then it started right up again
