anyone in the Army Reserve? I'm seriously considering joining up for the Army Reserve, it'll help me out with school and such but I'll pretty much only do it if I make it in a tech/skill non combat job. I talked to a recruiter already but wondered if any of ya'll had something to say or some advice maybe, it'd be much appreciated. Also, anyone know if being an Army Pharmacist qualifies you for doing the same job in the civilian world? (like do you get good/any credentials for the job?)

they still need admin in combat areas...there are no jobs in the army that wont have you deployed, you may not fight, but there is always the chance like happened in vietnam, and they get to where we are stationed at.....the air force reserve would be your best bet, the air force stays the furthest from the front line, and they rarely if ever have to go near a combat area....just a little advice....

basically, as long as I know I'm not certain to be running around with a gun and being cannon fodder, that's alright with me. By the way, what's an SPC?

I still need to do some more paperwork and take the aptitude test, but the guy says that considering my education and such, chances are very very good that if I join, I'll get into some sort of specialist job and start out as an E-3. It's not so much that I mind handlng a gun and defending myself, it's that I prefer not to go looking for trouble if I can help it.

by the way, with all that tuition assistance, I'm assuming you're doing some sort of ROTC thing right? I'm not so certain about that b/c of the active duty committment after graduation.

Not trying to be rude or offend anyone, buyt do not listen to what a recruiter tells you about placement. Pay very close attention to your papers before you sign them. The will change your selection and not tell you until you have done signed the papers, believe me I know, it almost happened to me. But the amred forces is definitely a good choice.
