Default Anyone good with PS2s?

Lately mine has been acting weird. It will take forever to read the disk, so I go to browser and it says disk read error. It's done this on everything that I've put in it. What could be wrong with it? None of the games are scratched up.

Here ya go, you'll obviously void your warranty but i think its worth looking at. Just read through all the sections first to see what advice they give

Cool, thanks for the link.

It's out of warranty, but I called Sony and they said they should cover the repairs for free. I just have to send it off to them. I'd rather fix it myself if I can, but I'll send it to Sony last resort.

The PS2's are known to have a weak laser. Try Just cleaning the eye with a cue tip and alcohol first before adjusting the resistance, and this can cause the laser to burn out faster.

I'm thinking of sending it back to Sony for them to repair for free. Would they be able to tell if I opened it up to clean the laser you think?

If it is over 90 days old then they won't do it for free. If You open it up, the sticker that tells if the warranty is void will come off.

I talked to sony and I have an email from them, they are not charging me anything at all to fix it. I'll probably send it off to them tomorrow. Has anyone sent their PS2 to sony for repairs before? How long do they usually take?
