Default error Code 26 update

Alrighty, I've found out what the hell is wrong with my car! (code 26-quad driver voltage error)

I removed some unused idiot lights from my gauge cluster a while back. It turns out that these unused lights actually serve a purpose. The way the gauge cluster is wired involves the computer sending a constant test voltage through the whole thing, including the ABS, Traction, and hatch open lights, even if you don't have 'em. It's almost as if they had Lucas do the wiring in GMs throughout the 90s. (I was working on an MG today, and let me tell you, Lucas should have stayed in the buggy whip business)

Another GM glitch: if you have a 91 through 96 Caprice or Impala SS, and the third brake light burns out, your cruise control won't work. Weird.

On another gauge related note, my tach started working again today, and my speedo has been almost normal for almost a week.

Two days and I've still got a tach, a speedo, and no check engine light. I've still got an oil leak. Oh well, life is mostly good.
