If your wanting to paint it I guess you could use a wire brush attachment on a drill to slean it up. Use high temp primer and paint. What exaclty do you want to do to the inside? If you're wanting to port it, it would be hard since you can get so far with tool, and won't really help because it will have better flow in spots then have restriction where you can't reach.

wouldn't paint the inside, that restricting air, just clean up the outside and paint it with high temp paint, since it is metal u might not have to prime it but it will look alot better if u do

If you didnt want it doe so soon you could have Jet Hot coat it, they clean it and do the inside and out and it comes with a 3 year warrant, the price they gave me was $95 plus S&H.

yeah.........the price sounds alright but I was looking for a cheap budget on this one.....i mean, i won this item on ebay for $.50, no joke. In almost mint shape. Even came with the O2 sensor. And they charged me 6.00 to ship it here. When I saw how much it cost to get it from UPS, it had cost them 10.00 to get it here.....hehe

which means they took 3.50 out their pocket for a loss.

couldn't i use a dremel tool to polish it as well? (i also think it will take me alot longer which is what i dont have time for)

-and it looks like i wont be painting the inside either now.....but thank you for the suggestions.....thanx to all who posted....

-any suggestions on how to get the left over carbon deposits out of the inside of the exhaust manifold?
im: gasoline, brake clean, etc?

I have yet to see any high temp paint, or any in a can you can buy, not wear off(from heat) the exhaust manifold, within 3 months. Then it turns into a flat chalky primer look of the color you used. But if you have to use a paint and are bent on doing it. I would say use Dupont cerma- coating( ceramic coating) paint. I used some on my heads I had it lasted for a good while before becoming discolored. But keep in mind heads don't get nowhere as hot as a exhaust manifold does.
