| HE's BACK!!! Whut up guys and gals. Hello to all from me! It's your friendly neighborhood Whelan Man.
Anyways, lol. I got back last night at around 12 midnight and slept at my gf's house. The trip was great, lots of alcohol, the beaches were great, the sun was awesome, got a lil tan but not too dark. I cashed out about $400 in alcohol and not to mention almost 100 at New Orleans. We found a nice lil bar called Bourbon Street Blues Company. The bartender Laine was wicked cool, she did shots with us, and was dancin on the bar, the entertainment was great and we got a few photos of her to come!
The weather stayed clear, it was a lil chilly on the deck of the boat seeming as its December. But once we stopped and were at the beach it was gorgeous. On Christmas Day we were on the beach in Cayman, I ran into the water screaming "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" most of the people there laughed. It was great there were like 6 other cruise ships on the horizon anchored and we were all spending our day in the crystal clear water!
Cazumel was kinda a wash, but we did get to rent jet skis. At first it was too rough but then they opened it up and the waves were perfect. We luanched those things so far and almost flipped a few times as well. But for $55 for a half hour it was amazing, my back, arms, hands, and legs were all sore the next day after taking the pounding from the waves (1-3ft)
The highlight was New Orleans, but no onto the bad part.
Well, at the end of the cruise on the last night, you are supposed to put your luggage outside your door for them to take away. Well I left the boat the next morning and went into the port authority where you collect your luggage, my bag seemed pretty light. I was gonna put some extra stuff in there before we left, so I go to open it up, the lock wasnt there. I unzip it to find....nothing.
Turns out, I had about 5 plain white T-shirts and a pair of black socks and one belt left. Luckily I had all my shoes packed somewhere else. But all my bathing suites, other T-shirts, pants, dress shirts, ties boxers, etc. were stolen from the bag. Then we go to the suitor (bag for suits) and it was wicked light. The only suit left was my brothers. They took my dads $200 blazer, his suit and my new $400 Evan Picone suit. GONE!!
So we tallied it all up at just over $1,000 in clothing, woohoo. So I realize this is getting long but we are almost at the end. The customs agents and people in the authority were basically kicking us out meanwhile I am missing everything. So now my father is wicked pissed and is gonna rip Carnival a new *******, hehe. I will say this, I wont EVER go on another Carnival Cruise as long as I live. Next time will be Norweigan or Celebrity.

| Good to hear that you made it back, and had a wonderfull trip. I have been to burbon street blues and it is an awesome little spot. 1 thing I hope that you did not do was buy souvineers in the shops in the french quarter, if you did all I can say is that you should have gone to the french market and gotten them for 1/2 the price.

| Great to hear you had a nice trip minus the clothes being stolen-that sucks. So you and your girlfriend are still together I see-I hope that's a good sign!

| Hey if ya threaten to bad mouth the cruise lines enough in the media, maybe they will hurry up and give you your money for your stolen stuff. I mean it's bad enough that people are getting sick left and right on cruises, but to add theft on top of that ESPECIALLY when they told you to put your bag out....I'd be callin' the five o'clock news!

| yeah I didnt buy anything on Bourbon Street, I only bought booz. Huge cups like 72oz. big gulps full of LIT delicousness. That day was a wash comprising of 2 Amstel Lights and 13 LITs all day long
I was averaging about 6-7 drinks at night to get wasted, it was fun. Bottle of wine for dinner and then off to drinking, LITs and Tangueray Tonics |

| hey whelan, welcome back and thanks for enlightening us, for our honeymoon we have been considering one of two things
either a cruise, like yours but to jamacia, or there is this place in ft myers that you can rent your own yacht, like a 40 foot trawler with 3 bedrooms, for only 1800.00 for a 8 day week! you go the first day, show them you can handle the boar, then off you go, no captain, total choice of your own curriculum, personally i think id head south to key west, from hwere i live its faster to go by boat, about 3 hours to key west thyen by car, 5 hours.
so reading about your experience will help us in deciding what to do, if i go on a cruise do i have to check my luggage? when i went to the bahamas on a cruise they allowed us to carry out luggage right on, but that was only a 4 day cruise.

| Joe, its kinda like an airport, it all needs to be checked.
I seriously felt it was somebody who saw me all week, knew what I was wearing, knew which room was mine, etc. Somebody who wasnt a crew member and that when I put my luggage outside the room, they took it into theirs, broke the lock and went through it then put it back in the hallway.
To be safe, simply refuse to put your luggage outside until the porter guy comes to pick it up. Explain my situation to them and they should understand. Personally I will never go on Carnival again due to the customer service experience with them at the port authority.
We got no answers and basically pushed outside so the new crew could come on for the next trip. |
