I thought the SPS was nice on my SL2 though afterwards I would have rather had the AEM. Since you have an auto you can't get that though. If you get the SPS one get the ceramic coated one for heat resistance. Mine was the plain chrome one and used to get very hot. Installation is very easy, the old hose connects with a clip which is a pain in the ass to get off to the throttle body. Then you pull the cover and the hose out of the engine bay, remove your air filter from the box, unbolt the factory airbox by removing the bolts in the bottom and then remove the plastic "rivet" holding the baffle assembly to the middle of the radiator frame and pull that out as well. Then if you're using the SPS intake you slide the throttle body end over the throttle body and tighten the band clamp. You definitely want the SPS mounting bracket too though. The most time consuming thing is aligning everything and making sure it's not only on straight but not rubbing anything. Actually you know what? I just looked and I think I'd recommend the AEM Short Ram over the SPS one. It's cheaper and it's powder coated to resist heat and comes with a built in mounting bracket. Anyway, installation will probably be similar but probably with less adjusting. |
