He's right. I've used the stuff for years on end. It's the only readily available cleaner I've ever seen that can get upholstery cleaner than a visit from Stanley Steamer.
Now, as far as the Oxy Clean, it has its uses. Once a friend of mine managed to break a bottle of red wine in my '01 SL with the warm grey carpet. The floor mat somehow managed to catch all of it, but of course, it ended up becoming burgundy in the process.
I gave up on the floor mat immediately because I thought that NOTHING would ever get the stain out, so I just left the mat sitting on the porch for a few days, figuring that I'd go buy a new set for the car. A friend came over to do some laundry before I had made it to the dealership, and happened to have Oxy Clean with her. She convinced me to try the stuff on the wine stain, and sure enough, it vanished just like in the commercials! That was a three or four day old, completely dried-in red wine stain! Poof! Gone!
Since then I've used Oxy Clean to remove dried in stains from coffee, chocolate, and even ketchup from auto interiors, and it always does a great job. Yeah, I keep Oxy Clean around. However, the Blue Coral is still my primary means of cleaning my upholstery.
Remember, Blue Coral for dirt and grime. Oxy Clean for stains.
