Default House Paint Problems-- Need Help/ Advise

Well I thought I would be a great Uncle and volunteered to repaint my nephews room and put up some superhero wallborder . Finished painting the room and moved on to the trim which I decided to do a darker color. Now is where the problem comes in, I lifted the tape and the paint came right off the wall : : . Thought maybe I messed up and didn't let the paint dry long enough. Came back a week later and same freakin problem. So does anyone know of an easy way to get this paint off. Took a hair-dryer and tried rolling the paint but this is taking forever. Tried sanding and it won't sand even, now some spots have 5 or 6 shades. Any ideas, I don't have weeks to take this stuff off?

It's latex. Should I have used another kind of paint? Not sure why it didn't adhere.

I had that problem when we just finished painting the bathroom. Was your paint semi-gloss? I didn't have a problem with the pealing when we were using flat.

it seems to work best to pain walls in flat colors. Trims look best in semi-gloss. As for taking it off the best thing I can think of besides a hair dryer is a scraper.

I thought about using a scraper, but I would end up spending more time filling in the gouges I left behind. The paint is a semi-gloss. I'll try a flat if I can ever get the other stuff off. I can check with some people tomorrow, I was just hoping someone had a quick solution while I was here at my nephews place.

That happens a lot with the cheaper masking tape. I always use the Scotch blue tape, and that has never caused problems for me. Another possibility is that if you were painting on top of an incompatible paint, you might just have bad adhesion and could have used a primer coat.

Did you prep the wall before painting. A real good cleaning to get dirt and grease off. TSP does wonders there. Also a good go at the walls with a fine to medium fine sandpaper to scuff up the old paint to give the new something to bite onto.
As for getting the new old stuff off??? Have you tried checking at a paint store to see what they have? Failing all else tape the whole dam room off and pull the tape and paint off.
