I've got a '92 SL1 that just failed the smog test in CA. I know my EGR is bad and the guy said it was almost certainly the problem. So is it hard to change out? Anyone have any tips?
I know its expensive as a ***** too. This really sucks.
Oh, just noticed you got the old vacuum type.....sucks for you, I have no idea how to remove it.
The Haynes manual has a step by step thing for it if you wana spend $14 on it. Otherwise someone else here should know.

i don't know if it changed from '92 to '94 but it's friggin easy.
pull the little hose off, take the two bolts off (because of their location you must you a box wrench, not a socket) swap on the new one... plug the little hose back in, you're done.
the egr valve is the round brass thing at the right side of the engine block. you will need to remove your intake tube, as the valve is slightly underneath it.
it's kinda shapped l;ike a mushroom and has a vacume hose attched to the top of it.
On the SL1s it is under the air filter housing. Remove the vacuum line. Two bolts hold it down and there is likely a bracket with a few bolts/nuts to be removed as well. Not real hard to do.

I changed out my EGR yesterday, but it was MUCH harder than I thought it would be. There was a mounting bracket that needed to come off the bolts before I could remove the valve.. and I basically had to bend the thing apart to get it off. Actually I didn't end up getting it back on. This bracket was never mentioed in this thread, or the Haynes or Chiliton manual. I wonder where the hell it came from??... the engine was replaced once so many it was just installed wrong..
