| I hate spackle Yep, time for a rant. I am using the next week to repaint every room in my house so that I can get my new carpets in in a couple weeks. I am redoing the downstairs bathroom, and the people who had the place before me were so stupid as to put waterproof wallpaper over bare sheetrock, with no primer or paint. Needless to say, in order to remove the adhesive I had to use a sprayer and a putty knife, and because the surface wasn't prepped the knife managed to rip big gouges in the sheetrock. Now I have finally finished the 3rd round of spackling and sanding. I can't f**king breath with all this crap in the air. Oh, and even better, I have to paint my 2-story staircase walls and ceiling tomorrow, so that means being 15-20 feet up on a board for a couple of hours. Just thought I would rant a bit while I have a cigarette and a beer before going back into that cloud of spackle dust. |

| What you need is a spackling partner to make it fun! I went on many missions trips on which we had some major spackle fights while trying to put up drywall-ahh-those were the days

| I've redone my fair share of houses, so I know where you're comin from. Think of it this way though.......once you're done, you'll be able to look back at it and really appreciate it.

| or you could always pay someone to do it for you then you can look back and see how good it looks and how easy it was to not do it.

| I still do it for a liviing. I am currently building a bedroom for my 7 year old daughter. Its about 600 sq ft for her bedroom. I have studded up two walls w/studs 16" on center, routed electrical lines from the fuse box, insulated w/R13 and R19 fiberglass insulation, hung 600 sq ft of drywall by myself, rough mud and finish mud, and I still have as of yet to still paint and carpet. I will be spraying on the paint and backrolling with a roller for a better finish, and powerstretching in her carpet (12 x 18 ) and installing carpet on her steps and stringers. I ordered her a new Serta Gold Series mattress for her to sleep in (759 coil count mattress w/pillowtop) I will be doing all of this building process for about a month only working about 3-6 hours on it every other day. (I will post pics when it is completed, I took pics all throughout the building process)
What can I say, Im the MAN. I am a master at what I do. If you are interested in having any work done to your house and live in the Detroit area, get a hold of me. |

| Holy ****. You've got to come visit Connecticut
600 SqFt for your daughter? That is one hell of a room. For the last 4-5 years I have been a computer geek/hacker sort, and I'm in the middle of remodeling my whole place. The people who did this **** to this place should either be dragged out and shot, or forbidden to ever watch the Home & Garden network or own so much of a hand tool for the rest of their natural life. |

But actually, if i get a job in Connecticut (my job travels me all over the country) then I might give you a call when im in town. Yeah, she is lucky and she knows it. She is very proud of her room. When I brought up the "pink" insulation she thought it was the finish product of her room. When I told her it was the start, her jaw dropped.
She lives with her mother and step-father. And to tell you the truth, all of us get along just fine! No problems what so ever. I still pay my child support and everything. They want to pay for my efforts in this project but I have declined their offer. The courts only ask of me to pay 50.00 a week in child support. If you have a 7 year old you know they are worth more than that at this age with brownies, jazz, tap and ballet, school costs and clothing + other expenses. I told them they can keep their money and just to keep our relationship's in good spirits for my daughterm so she doesnt have to experience alot of the other hardships out there in the world.
There are fathers and there are daddy's.....im a daddy, and damn proud of it. |

Yeah-7 year old girls are VERY expensive. I've always been into music, so, starting at 7 it was a piano, piano lessons-soon after they had to buy me a baritone, then baritone lessons-and now-it's time for a tuba-already had the tuba lessons-haha. Oh well-kids are well worth it if they decide to do something productive with their little selves.
