Default I love my car... sometimes EDIT: as the bill climbs.....

It always chooses the most convenient times to have a problem.

There has been a slight noise from the front left which I knew was the wheel bearing, but I was waiting till it got worse to fix it, and till I got more $$$. Well, I got the new hub assy and was planning on doing the work next weekend. This weekend I will be going on a short trip, about 2 and a half hours away.

Well this morning I backed out of my garage and there was a hellatious popping / clicking sound. I drove down the street, turned around and came home. Looked around and decided to try to get a ride to class. Couldn’t get one. So I decided to drive it anyways. Got home later in the day took the wheel off and sure enough, the rubber gasket is hanging out of the back of the knuckle with metal flecks spread around and the smell of burning metal.

So now I have to have a shop replace the hub so I can have it done by sat when I was planning on doing it myself next weekend. GRRRRRR!!!!

the rear bearings are easy to change, unsure about the fronts, I replaced my driver rear bearing over the Summer, now the passenger side is going

Well, the bill is upto $750 or so

They took it for a test drive this morning and while they were out, the bearing seized. Thus breaking the axle I put in approx 2 or 3 months ago. plus, the Knuckle / hub assy I had and thought would work, wont. So now I have to pay for:

Tow back to the shop
Front left Hub assy
Half-shaft
Right Rear Bearing
Alignment

This sucks. Now I am afraid they are putting in a reman. shaft which are appearently notorious for going bad too. Luckily this shop has a good waranty of 24 months or 24000 miles, whichever comes LAST.
