| I'm the designated apt complex mechanic... I'm always outside doing something to one or all of my cars in the parking lot. Everyone knows me by my cars lol
So, this morning before I left for work, I was trying to figure out wtf is wrong w/my daytona. Clinging to the little hope that's left that it is not the headgasket. One of my neighbors asked me how much I'd charge to do a tuneup on their car, a newer Hyundai accent. So, of course, I was surprised at the question. I just told the guy I've never thought about working on other people's car and I wouldn't know what to charge. I then told him that doesn't mean I won't do it. Hell, most of the time, I don't even wanna work on my own cars lol
So if they bring it up again I suppose I could tell em $50 or so. Tune up to me means plugs & wires. I wonder if they meant a lot more hmm... |

| charge them parts +20 or 30 for the tune up. Tell them it is includes, plugs, wires, and air filter. Well, that is what I do. It seems like I am the neighborhood mechanic, just because I swapped a motor in my driveway for SuperSW2. That and all the other car stuff that seems to go on.

| LOL, over the last 3-4 months or so, I've now got more people asking for help with their cars than are asking me to fix their computers. I've got three people that wanted me to do 60k tuneups and one that wanted a 100k. I did oil, air filter, plugs, wires, tranny fluid (on the two autos), coolant, bled the brakes and checked all the belts, hoses, etc... oh yeah, and lubed the suspension components, topped off the washer fluid, etc -- pretty much what I do to my car on a bi-weekly basis anyway. $75 a pop and they didn't have a mechanic lying to them and telling them that they needed to replace their blinker fluid or engine oil bypass systems. |
