| I'm on "THE GUM" welp if melissa can quit smoking then damn it, so can i! while picking up my meds yesterday i bought some nicotine gum, so far i tried it a few times yesterday and it did stop me from smoking about 20 minutes each time (im a consecutive chain smoker in front of the computer, when not at home i smoke heavy but not to bad, about a pack and half a day) i figure to start, even if i can knock out TEN ciggs A DAY thats still much better then inhaling all those damn chemicals. so im really going to try this time, ill admit, i love to smoke, so thats what makes it harder to quit, you have to be in the right frame of mind, but im sick of my mouth tasting like an ashtray, im sure mels sick of the smell in my office, and it damn sure aint good for the baby in the house.
so lets see how this stuff does, i tired zyban twice, didnt do ****. the gum did releive my cravings but like after dinner, i WANTED a real smoke! lol
wish me luck!

| Good luck Joey! I've been pretty successful so far. That is to say that I haven't actually killed anybody....yet.

as far as the gum so far so good, how long ago did you quit jimmy? did you do it all at once. or come off gradually?

| Hey Joey, some advice for you.
First off my father quit cold turkey just b/c he added up how much he would save per month, then per year, then per 10 years. He saw the total and just quit smoking just like that.
My mom on the other hand did it a little more effectively. Since she couldn't do that, she tried hypnotism. There was this seminar going on so she tried it. When she was done, she didn't even have a craving. So she basically went from a pack a day to nothing at all, and she didn't ever give in again. Amazing I tell you. Even when we use to get company over our house (back in the earlier days my parents ALLOWED them to smoke in the house still) they could smoke around her all they wanted, but she never wanted to try again. She has not smoked since 91 so thats 12 years so far. If you can find a hypnotist or something, try that, you won't regret it.
