Default I'm moving to Idaho

Wife got a job in Idaho, so we're moving out there in about 4-5 weeks to the Idaho Falls area (southeast Idaho). Anyone out in ID?

That is going to be one hell of a change for you guys. Green is not the natural colour there.
It does put you close to some spectacular scenery and areas to visit though.
200 miles to Salt Lake City.
630 miles to Las Vegas.
900 miles to Los Angeles.
700 miles to Portland. Another 80 or so miles to Tillamook and the ocean. The costal highway is something to be seen.
Under 500 miles to Bryce Canyon and not much further to Zion Canyon.
Never mind the Rockies east of there. The sking east of salt lake.

The area right around where we live should be awesome for driving fun. There is uber-flat scrub desert, plus winding mountain roads, as well as some rolling hills for a little something in-between.

My wife is generally excited, but is already not looking forward to the lack of large trees. There is plenty of water from the river, and underground reservoirs - it just doesn't make it to the surface everywhere. If you look at the area on google earth, there's lots of green where things are irrigated, so it's not totally desolate looking at least.

Man if you want large trees, you gotta visit northern california. OUr giant redwoods put anything on the east coast to shame. plus the drive from the oregon boarder to sanfrancisco has to be one on the prettiest roads. driving on the west coast is something every car enthusiast needs to do..

Too bad for you. I don't really like Idaho. I am currently about 8 minutes away from Moscow, ID. I am in Pullman..but I am moving day after tomorrow to the western part of Washington.
