i have a 1988 mustang 2.3l
I want to put a 5.0l carb. motor in it how hard would that be and what modds would i have to do?

my guess would be:

Step 1: find a mustang forum
Step 2: read a lot

There might be someone on here that knows, but there definitely should be someone who knows on a mustang forum, and you're already on the internet...

it shouldnt be that hard, i know its possible, might need a new engine cradle, best bet would be to get a donor car and take everything off of that one and put it on yours.

there is not a junkyard in nc or around me that has any fox body mustangs.....this is going to be harder then i was hoping....does anyone know if a new motor would fit and work in a fox body mustang...say like a motor out of a 96-2003 mustang? Around here most fox bodys are tunred into drag cars

96-03? Thats the 4.6, right? That would probably be tricky. Again, just google it. Not that hard, I'm sure theres plenty of stuff about this.

I have read that putting a 4.6 DOHC in a 5.0 Mustang is a HUGE challenge, because the 4.6 DOHC is extremely wide compared to the OHV 5.0. As I remember reading, Ford's engineers had to do some serious work to the strut towers when they were making the 1996 Mustang.

Now I have heard that putting a 5.8 OHV in a Mustang is not too difficult.
