Lately manufacturers have been making some really screwey "special editions".
Saturn puts a black roof on a white car and calls it a Special Edition. Chevy puts a new color option on the Corvette palatte for a "Special Edition" Let's not forget the "Special Edition" Honda Accord and previous generation Nissan Altima, both of which (as far as I can tell) are nothing more than a badge on the decklid that says "Special Edition"
But Ford takes the cake. The 1999 Mustang was offered with a "Special Edition" 35th Anniversary package, which was nothing more than a GT with side scoops, a bigger hood scoop, polished wheels and some other meaningless crap. The 2001+ GT's saw hood and side scoops that were very similar, although not the same, as the 35th scoops. The average person can't tell them apart.
Then for 2003, the V6 "Appearance Package" includes polished 16" wheels and a 99-01 Cobra hood.
But they finally got their **** together in 2001. The Bullitt had a special intake worth a few horses, and the Mach I has a Cobra engine in it
