| Hey matt.
on his hood, you have to use hood pins. he doesnt build them for hinges from what ive read in past posts.
Oh yeah. and custom, if you read this post too, how much extra ontop of that 700 for a blue/black weave? do you have any pics of hoods done with blue/black? im curious to see a pic or two if so. thx for your time and patience. |

| Matt Yeah... nothing on the stock hood system can be used. It is just hood pins.. only utahraptor78I am not sure. First off.. the XRC is a APC hood. From my just guesswork on that I suspect that they are fiberglass based w/ carbon top. I know mine will be lighter and stronger but other than that I am not sure how to compare them w/o getting up close and personal. I know my hood would be in the 8-9 lb range and is made of 20oz CF. I suspect the APC hood is about 30lbs and is made of a 5-10oz CF top.
I would go w/ the option of cutting your metal hood and sending it over. Much easier and that way you would mess up the hood you do NOT want compared to potentially messing up the good hood.
I have black/blue gas doors pics if you want them. Also... it would be in the range of about $50 extra for colors. WhelanI have a vinyl overlay alum gas door right now. It is nothing special but kinda cool. I will have a NICE CF gas door coming out soon for the 1st gen people. I totally understand not everyone has the money for a hood... but... I know there are some out there.
As far as the business goes... I think Saturn's have accounted for about 5% of my sales. I have 100's of other products and I will continue to sell the Saturn stuff I have... but I will not develop anymore because there is no pay off. The money for me is in the Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Chevy lines. |

| Security reasons??
Just out of curiosity.... how do you think the guys w/ 100's of thousands of dollars in the motor alone protect their engine? There is locking hood pins w/ really lock and key mechanisms. Security should not be a concern because if you have something someone wants... locks, latches, and hinges wont stop them.
Actually... I would suspect it would be easier to break a window and pop a hood than trying to pry hood pin locks off. |

| I agree. Either way is just as easy to get to. If they want in, they will get in. Just depends on how much noise they want to make. They could probably bust off the hook thing on a stock hood just as easy as a couple pins. |

| Well, i just don't really like the pin setup. If the car is sitting somewhere, someone can open the pins and have complete acces to my engine. True, they could get to it if they really wanted to. To me it seems like they would rater mess with a car with hood pins on it. |

| Have you ever thought of doing a carbon fiber trunk, or even fiberglass? Also why doesn't anyone offer a fiberglass hood for Saturns, would it not be a more affordable price rang and still lighter than the steel one? Wish I had some skill in fiberglass, I bet I could make a killing over the carbon fiber hoods offered, more affordable, and still gain a weight advantage. |

I understand that the CF hood is not for everyone but damn!... I see them on ever other car out there. I know you guys blow $4K on a turbo and $1.5K for a XRC body kit... why not a CF hood? | I am not doing a 1500.00 body kit what so ever on my car, maybe now hood. Im the guy from Detroit that wanted one, and I said I would come get it so I save on shipping charges. How much for a 94 sl hood?and how hard are hood pins? And if i get this hood I will also need to add an alarm pin for the hood through my alarm now because of easy access issues i was not aware of. Which I dont want easy access especially since Im gonna be spending alot of money getting my engine and turbo in January. |

| I am not keen on pins, but my bud had some on his 83 Stang they went pretty well with the car. The ones I really hate are the APC ones that do not work, they are simply stick ons that look like pins, what a crock!
Also Custom man, what is your price gonna be for that REAL CF gas door, I will totally buy that. you got my email before so make sure ya let me know. |
