| Sport Compact Car did something similar, only it was a whole svt cobra setup in a svt focus, converted to rear wheel drive just like this one. Only difference was, the SCC one was supercharged. they called it the ATI Terminator- because ATI(?) built it. |

ATI sells that conversion to anybody, and if memory serves me right it was $40K not including the car or drivetrain.
It used the '04 SVT 4.6L supercharged engine out of the Cobra.

...and ATI's page about it: http://www.accuratetechnologies.com/...aspx?tabid=196
They still don't have the pics I'm interested in seeing...the rear suspension/axle setup. ATI used an '03 Cobra IRS and this 347 car has an 8.8" solid rear, I'd like to see how they were set up.

| Here's a company that did a Focus for Ford Racing and that offers the kit through Ford Racing. http://www.kugelkomponents.com/focus/focus.html |

| yawn.
at last you can have a sub par engine in a poorly designed car for the mere price of $65,000.
are you ****ing kidding me?
a muscle compact would have to be a small, well handling car with a stout proven powerplant pushing it around. and it would have to look good to. www.v8archie.com |

All the conversion parts on that website (excluding engine, trans, rear axle) total $4760. You can pick up an 8.8" axle for $550, a T5 transmission for $750, and a 5.0 engine for $600 from StangParts, and I'm sure you can find them all cheaper at locak junkyards. By my count, that's a grand total of $6,660 in modification parts. How much does a used Focus hatch go for? I'm not sure, but I know the total would be nowhere near your stated price of $65k. If the Ford 302 isn't a stout and proven powerplant, what is?

| here's the article, pay perticular attention to the "price" listing. where they got that price i don't know. http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/ro...0404scc_focus/
i've driven a focus. every second i was in it i felt i was about to die. i'd've felt safer riding in a shopping cart.
that and ford has been playing catch up with it's engines for, oh, well over 50 years now. the industry standard is was and will probably always be the chevy small block.
and i notice how you made no comment on the car having to look good two. i guess we're in agreement there. |
