About a week ago, my car was recovered by the police and returned to me. (On a side note, guys, make sure your insurance company really is a licensed insurance company in the state in which you reside. I found out the hard way that mine was a fly by night company and didn't see a dime for my car. )
Now, since it came back to me there are a few problems with it. Well, a lot of problems. Everything is pretty well fried. The clutch is slipping, the brakes rotors and drums are all cracked, and there is some evidence to suggest that my car was running drugs from Mexico with no air filter housing installed.
Basically, I'm mostly curious about sorting out the engine. It still runs, but with an extra 8 thousand miles of what appears to have been unrelenting abuse, it's puffing smoke and laboring hard to even move the car. There's plenty of oil consumption, from the looks of it, and the blow-by from the crankcase is like nothing I've ever seen. Sounds to me like it's just about had it, but I am not a Saturn expert.
Does anyone happen to know what my compression should be? I'd like to start by doing a compression test on it. Perhaps a leakdown test as well.

| Keith,
Welcome to the Spot! I wish it was under better circumstances that we meet, considering the abuse your car has taken thanks to the assholia that is the criminal underworld. As far as your engine goes, if it's shot (I get the nagging feeling it's on it's last legs now), talk to Joey at 6th Planet. He'll hook you up
Just wondering, but how did the cops get your ride back?
Josh

| Wow, lots of replies to acknowledge! I'll go in reverse order here just because it's easier.
Wintermute, Apparently the local county mounties found it parked at a residence when they arrived to arrest someone there. As it turns out, they arrested the thief there as well. How about that? Talk about killing two birds with one stone.
ShtNgiT, how can you do that to me? Surely you know what it's like growing up with this name. Argh. Gradeschool sucked. LOL.
Joey, (Everyone else calls you that, so I might as well do it, too.) I'd love a late model engine for her, and the brakes would help as well, but since I'm currently in Western Washington State and I have to get back to Missouri ASAP, I'll probably just snatch some brakes from the local pull-a-part before I head out. Hey, they'll let me have everything off of one of their cars in the yard including all that I need to do a rear disc conversion, and the car I found in there has brand new rotors and pads all the way around. My cost? 95 bucks plus tax for the whole mess. I'm pretty sure the engine can make it back to Missouri as is. Besides, I'm flat broke and unemployed until I get back to Missouri and try to get my life back in order. However, I'll keep you in mind for a motor after I get back. Any chance that a dual cam could be used instead? If I'm going to end up spending more on the car than it's worth, I might as well make it more fun to drive.
Everyone else, thank you kindly for the supportive responses and warm-hearted welcomes. I feel a lot better going in to this venture surrounded by so many fellow Saturn followers.
Uhm... You guys aren't going to innitiate me by branding a Saturn logo on my forehead or anything, are you? Heh.

| LOL Satun logos on the forehead, LOL
Anyways, Welcome aboard buddy, sorry to hear about the loss, but glad to see your baby back in your own hands. Def. get in touch with Joe via phone or email. Keep yourself tuned here to get more info on general fix ups and upgrades. If your gonna get a rebuilt from Joe, why not go ahead and get another SOHC engine with a Turbo built. That would be sweet, probably the first 3rd gen SOHC with a turbo. Anyways, keep yourself posted, and dont forget to get your head branded! |

Dammit, we're not doing the head-brandings anymore after our brother Saturn-Owners got arrested for scaring people, remember?!?!? All new familymembers get the branding on the ass! Now Kieth, you have a choice... Left or right cheek?
lol

Josh | Oh, man. Integra rims that do not fit properly, a hole busted in the passenger front wheel well from the wheel breaking off, fuel system hanging off the bottom of the car, Gouges through the paint in every body panel except for the hood and roof, the spoiler is missing, the front passenger window is gone, tow hitch is gone, factory air intake is missing for some reason, the steering wheel is upside down when going in a straight line, letting go of the wheel makes you go in tight circles to the right, my floormats are missing, the headliner is ripped, and the interior is full of cigarrette burns and dog crap stains. There's more, but it makes me sick to think about it too much.
If I had any idea how to post pictures with a post, I'd include a few.
