People worry about things they have no control over. If we ever were in a nuclear war exchanging thermo-nuclear devices the world would be barren (except for maybe a portion of Austrailia due to the jet stream and the fact there's no real stratigic targets).

I don't know about you, but I don't see the point in digging a shelter with food and **** to come out to a radioactive wasteland to live on. And the odds of me living long enough to get into the shelter's jack for the most part.

In my opinion we have no need to worry about nuclear war. Look at how war has changed from the days of carpet bombing. Nowadays we bomb strategic targets and try for minimal civilian casualties. To use nukes on iraq would mean the majority of iraqs innocent civilians would be stinky vapor. Most of the other countries that have nuclear capabillities are the same way. Terrorists on the other hand....I doubt they would think twice, but that just shows that they are pussies.

Guys,
I can see Brenda's point clearly for the reason my dad is a Sub Sailor as well... The threat of using a Nuclear Bomb isn't truly in the use of it in itself, but rather the realization that the targeted force will retaliate with the same. Believe me, if we fire a nuke at someone, someone WILL fire one at us in retaliation. In theory, that may be fine and dandy to some, but the stark reality of of it is that there is no such thing as a Nuclear War... It's actually a Nuclear Holocaust.

Which is the whole reason why it won't happen.

jeep,
As much as I find it comforting to think that, from a moral standpoint, it'll never happen, the reality of the situation is that Dubya has pretty much stated on record that we'll nuke Iraq if it comes down to that. Now, with that on record, I do believe he's crazy enough to order us to drop on them. NO ONE in their right mind would even think of subjecting this world to that. Now, wether our officers actually carry those orders out is another story. NO ONE wants to drop a nuke, and anyone who does isn't human. They'd be a monster with no conscience.
