| It sets the automatic shift at different RPM levels. I used to keep it on all the time on my '94 SC2-I just liked the shift pattern better. It gives you more "oomph" at the start with a shift at higher RPMs.

| No, it's not.
On most cars, 1, 2, D, OD, N, R ,P runs like this:
1=first gear only
2=first and second gears only
D=1,2,and 3 gears
OD= 1,2,3, and 4 gears
N=obvious
R=back up, duh
P=parkin
The Saturn works like this 2, 3, D, N, R, P:
2=second gear only, no first
3= 1,2,3 gears
D= 1,2,3,and 4 gears
N=neutral
R=Missed the pedestrian
P=Grinding halt
The performance switch ups the pressure in the tranny lines, allowing higher and harder shifting, as well as a 1/2 mpg or so loss.

Trust me. Mine never shifted really hard unless I gunned it-and if your car is shifting hard like that ALL THE TIME-then I think you need to lay off before you leave your engine and tranny in the next county. Just a word of advice-take it or don't

| I redline almost daily, just take care to ease it up there. None of that mashin stuff, do it smoooooth.
And my performance switch? It's called my right wrist Now, shiftin hard for multiple days straight in situations the car shouldn't ever encounter unless built right, that will fry your tranny REAL fast (ask Joe if you got any questions. He was gonna hook me up real nice, but my damn parents just wanted the blocker ring fixed )
