Default Possibly Totalled!

Got the call from the mechanic.

He can get a cradle here for Monday for $350 (thats what the guy selling it wants), the radiator is bent and leaking a bit, he thinks the struts are bent so if I put a claim in I should do those too, the two panels, windshield (glass coverage), undercarriage liner, and wheel liner.

I am almost about to ditch this car, scrap it and go buy something new.

Exactly-if they'll pay for it do it-but see if they're planning on totalling it now that they know it's m ore extensive damage. Great deals on newer Saturns right now!

tell your mechanic to find as much as possible so the insurance will total it. then buy a new one.

Look into financing it through a bank though too. Saturn will give you $2000 off for not using the financing (just run the numbers). You can also get $1000 off for GM Loyalty. My GF and I are picking up a Quad Coupe 2 with most options out the door for under $12K

Got my estimate

$1715.72

He said that is including the strut work, here is a rundown of the cost.

Used Cradle Subframe $350
Front Struts $212.30
Strut Towers $73.30
Labor $520

Radiator $243.15
Coolant $20
Labor $130

Front Alignment $70
Tax $97

Total $1715.72

He said he wasnt sure about the struts though and wouldnt know till the subframe was off if they were bent or not. I would think that in this situation they would be. So tonight I have to call the insurance company and put in a claim. I am going to go get the car and bring it home tonight and let it sit. If its a total I will take off the intake with adapter and all pieces and sell it to someone, same with the strut bar, wires, stereo, CD changer, neons I might keep, if I can Ill sell the short shifter, and my lights (sidemarkers, headlights, strobes) and who knows what else. So if your in the market, keep an eye out for lots of sales posts.

As of now the car is on life support and the plug might be pulled on my 94 SL1 and the replacement would be (hate to admit) a 2002-03 Black Civic EX coupe 5spd. with spoiler and moonroof and 15's all standard. I could take the 2k I get and put 1k on the car and the last 1k in the bank to drop the payments to around 250. Insurance only goes up 200 over 6 months.
