Default Rain + Bad Road + Cell Phone = BAD!

Things could have went (and almost did) go very bad tonight.

Before I left my house for my apartment at college on the news was a report of 3 people getting killed on the interestate 5 miles from where I lived ... foreshadow?

So I'm I-55 north bound, almost home and I'm on my cell phone chatting hands free using my free minutes at this time. It had been raining constantly all evening but it was a hard rain nor was there allot of rain so the roads were merely wet. So I'm chatting away and don't notice that going getting on one of the crappiest pices of I-55 that I know off. (it's louisiana, everythign is pretty crappy, this is worst) The roadway hasn't been redone in so long ruts have formed on the surface. So as I'm riding I see the car in front of me getting on and off it's breaks rapidly and start to swerve, I'm like wtf? Then I hit the puddles of water @ 65mph. "****, **** , I gotta go" and yank the earpiece out as I pump the breaks (no anti-lock) and try to keep it together (not the first time I've started to loose it in wet condition, i've had LOTS of pracitce). So haflway out of control I manage a semi-controled dive into the much drier left lane from the right and get the car back under control and continue on at 60mph, 10 under the speed limit doding around little puddles.

But wait there's more!

Some ass in an SUV starts riding my rear b/c I'm not doing the speed limit, but I'm sure as hell not getting back in the deadly right lane with ruts FULL of water. I guess the ass in the SUV figures he/she's had enough and goes to pass me. Just as the SUV's rear tired gets even with my door I see it start swerve and hits breaks. Another **** **** moment. I slip the auto into 3rd (my tranny has issues) and accelerate forward of the SUV, didn't want to be anywhere around it! And good thing to b/c it swerves over to the middle of the entire road way just as I pass and finally gets it back togehter.

The moral is when it's rainy out and the roads are wet, focus on driving and ONLY on driving. And don't be in a hurry! I just got my car back from learning an expensive lesson in just taking it easy and tonight I learned another lesson on paying very close attention! Btw Joey, I found out my body shop didn't call ya for parts b/c they though you dealed in new parts...or so they say.

Ya I hear ya. Alot of people don't take it easy when there's rain or snow. I hate that. It's almost as if they are begging for an accident.

Glad to hear you are safe though
