Default S series compression problems

so as some of you might already know, my saturn has been diagnosed with a few bent/burned valves... my mechanic said it would cost $2400 to send the head out to a machine shop and have 4 of them replaced... ive invested well over $5K into this $3K car just in parts/labor already... i just got my SL2 in october and i love the speed but the price isnt right.. im about to trade in my little 'blue smokin 3 cylinder' and never buy another S series car again...

on the brighter side, im looking for an ION...

but if i cant find a cheap one with 2 doors, adios saturnspot!

why not just buy a used head/engine & put it in, even if it's just to sell the car? You're right that $2,400 isn't worth it.

lol def just buy a newer satty. the reality is, you COULD keep replacing parts, but just spend a little more or get a small loan and get a newer car with less mileage. it's be less of a hassle, dep on price you'll easily be able to pay it off in a short amount of time, and you could probably still sell the sl for at least a thousand or two concerning its age and condition. it's time to move on.

p.s- not having a saturn doesn't mean you have to leave Spot haha, i still tell people with good looking saturns about the site in my day-to-day activities.

Uhhh...wow. If you do any work yourself, it gets a hell of a lot cheaper.

Pick up another head for $50 or pull the one off there.

Send it to a MACHINE SHOP. Drop it off yourself, tell them what you want done. Or, send it to a member on here that does machining work.

Pay $200-600. Put brand new head back on engine.
