Few updates. Well, after the first try at the Mazda dealer I went to another one thats closer to my house.
They claim to have had the largest inventory of 3s, now they ONLY have 30...30 seems like a lot for the size of their facility...I love how the salesman(who admitted to being a n00b) said that the 12 sitting on the side were the only ones left, and when not of them met my options crieteria another 15 mysteriously appeared in the back...THe we found 4 more up front
They still didnt have what I wanted and in so many words told me, "they're selling like hotcakes" and the undertone was that they arent giving any deals on them, even though ive read on all the Mazda boards you can get them for $100-$300 over invoice.

We started to walk out and then a left ove protege5 caught my eye. It was red and LOADED and they even threw a nice catback exhaust on it. MSRP was 19,800...Invoice was $17,600, and they said $16,175. Ive read up a lot on the Mazda boards and they seem to be going for $14,500 with minimal options, but I didnt really want any of the options that the car had. They didnt laugh at me(even though I was ready for it) but they didnt go for it either. They wanted to bargain a little more, but i was not impressed with the total lack of power the thing had, so i decided if i didnt get the insane deal i wanted, i was just walkin out...and so i did.

After much thought, the car search will be slowin down a bit, at least till I actually sell my car so i have a little leverage to bargain(like being able to buy the car immediately)...but if my car doesnt sell I wont die, I'll just keep it. My grandfather is supposed to be giving us his 01 L300 in September anyways, so as long as my car doesnt die by then I should be inheriting either that or the outback.

Dude one word: NISSAN.

My wife walked out the door with 165 hp, 175 ft lbs, auto tranny, 17 inch alumin alloy wheels, BIG 4 wheel disc brakes, and extended warranty for 16k flat. She got a base model Se-R. For about 1k more you can get a 6 speed tranny, upgraded sound system (I think they still do the fosgate thing), sun roof, 17 inch alloys and 4 wheel discs, and 10 more hp and ft lbs in the Spec V. Not to mention the handling is insane.
