| ps. rental car companys can and do use them and CHARGE you for speeding if you get caught, now, many cars are very sophisticated, like melissa's volvo, so their idea of the black box is prolly beside misinformation, no diffrent then the cars pcm, which of course you can retreice stuff like tps postions and other things....they got that story ALL WRONG.

| I can't say I have any problem with them being there. They apparently will not permanently store information until an airbag blows. Well, if the case of an airbag blowing, obviouslt a serious accident has occured. So, Do I want it to be my word against another driver's, or do I want to have the little data logger that can back up my story and keep me out of hot water and away from things like higher insurance? I'll take the box, thank you. |

| Anywho... I'd like to see the real authorities on this whole data logging device speak about it. Let GM tell people what it actually does. |

| KC that is an EXCELLENT contructive counter argument, applauds for bringing up an intelligent counter argument to the table.
but, no wrrys man, there aint none in all saturns, no-one, no-one tearss down, and rebuilds more saturns overall then me and pro power combined, not one of us, ever, has had a black box in any saturn, and we do everything.
we just had a local girl last week (amy guys are like drooling for a week now, they said this girl was smoking hot beyond belief, LOL), 97 sc2, she went in a ditch, no body damage, but did ruin her engine cradle and blew her airbags off, we had to do the whole job, no black boxs buddy, also, as a court appointed expert id hear/see more of this in courts , like the saleen mustang case im working on now, the claim is the plaintiff bought a 55k car with 3500 miles, we find out iot had 3 brake jobs! they call me in first thing i find is a lock down tab broken off the odometer pick up in the tranny.
then oil analysis shows UPWARDS of 50-60k on it! defendant, maroone ford on ft lauderdale claims they had no knowledge.
now, wnat to hear an awesome kick to the deal? were going to make car fax give us 5 THOUSAND BUCKS! why? ok sit back ill tell you...
believe it or not, saleens do not start as mustang gt's they start as 3.8 v -6 convertibles, THEN saleen, authorized by ford, drops in a 5.8 351 windsor engine
NOW, when working on this case and looking over the carfax report i found that the car WAS LISTED AS A 3.8 CONVERTIBLE mustang! woo hooo jackpot baby, the lawyer on the case immdeitley put carfax on notice...any time you get a carfax it has a 5 thousand dollar guarantee of accuracy
now, if the car was modified right from the factory thats a BLATANT oversight by carfax....not bad huh? i might not be educated like a college prof, but man, i sure can wing some cases in court!

| Thanks, Joey, but it really wasn't anything special. I've justhad too much coffee this morning and I had to write something different.
Keep up the great work on that mileage issue. Maroone has to be the most crooked dealer in the Ft. Liquordale area. They deserve to get stuffed in the rear without lube.
Congrats on the CarFax deal, too. Heh. I wish I could be that lucky. |

Dude did you even bother reading what I wrote the first time? Quote: |
Other cars might have the data stored in the cars computer but they do not have a transmitter. The only way to get the info is to pull it from the computer with a scan tool.
| I said that they store the data, but they have no transmitting capabillities.

| ...They have no right to access that information in my car without a proper warrant. I don't care how you slice it, that is a search of my car. If they think that the crash is just cause, then they have the duty and responsibility to go to a judge, present him with the evidence, and let him decide if a warrant is necessary...
Well, if you've been reading this stuff you'll notice that there authorities haveo obtain warrants for the information. No illegalities there.
I looked up some data on these things on some sites last night and found sme interesting evidence. What I found is that they have been used by both sides to either prove guilt or innocence. As a tool, it works for or against you, depending on what exactly you were doing at the time you crashed.

now, if the car was modified right from the factory thats a BLATANT oversight by carfax....not bad huh? i might not be educated like a college prof, but man, i sure can wing some cases in court! | Since you mentioned a "lock-down tab" on the speedo sensor, I'm assuming this is a 1999 Saleen S-351.
The Saleen S-351's started life as a V6, but then Saleen swapped out the K-member for one from a 94-95 GT and put in a supercharged 351. The last year for the S-351 was 1999 though. The majority of Saleen's (and all of them after 1999 I believe, although they may have dressed up some V6's) in fact do start life as GT's.
I think it may be a stretch to get the CARFAX money because the car did indeed leave Dearborn as a V6. I believe it works like this: The buyer basically buys the car and Saleen's modifications, then Ford sends the car to Saleen before the buyer takes delivery. I don't think Saleen uses special VIN's (although I could be wrong), the VIN may very well still be coded for a V6. Then Saleen modified it. If I paid Crazy Horse to drop a 5.4 into my Mustang, CARFAX has no way of knowing.
The lack of maintenance and mileage scam aren't exactly the fault of the dealer either.
Now, you should definitely be able to get money from someone (probably the previous owner) for screwing with the mileage. Slap an idiot fine on there for driving that many miles without a speedometer, and another idiot fine for being too dumb to change the oil, especially on a supercharged application. He probably fed the car 87 octane too. Retard
Make that dumbass pay for a new engine and blower. Hearing someone mistreat such a beautiful and rare car really pisses me off...The S-351 is the only Saleen that's worth the money IMHO.

| hey anthony, youll love this, it ALLREADY had one s/c replaced AND THREE sets of brakes, hello, yeah its got 3500 ,miles hahahhahhahaaa
but, on carfax, when THIS owner did the carfax report it absolutley SHOULD have read 5.8 litres, why? since the cars factory authorized it NEVER hit the street as a 3.8
obviously you have allot of input on the saleen but this in fact is registered, and as far as we know, a 1997 model, and yes i saw the broken lock down tab on one side with my own eyes (two lock downs on the odo pick up, one broken clean off anthony)
also, decteing no odometer fraud was pretty blatant, hey want the car fax report? youd be surprised, experts like myself learn things every day and something you say to me may very well be worded into my final summary!
