obviously you have allot of input on the saleen but this in fact is registered, and as far as we know, a 1997 model, and yes i saw the broken lock down tab on one side with my own eyes (two lock downs on the odo pick up, one broken clean off anthony)
also, decteing no odometer fraud was pretty blatant, hey want the car fax report? youd be surprised, experts like myself learn things every day and something you say to me may very well be worded into my final summary! | No ****, SC replaced once already and the scumbag STILL didn't change the oil in 60k miles. This clown not worthy of owning anything more than a bicycle. Although, not that it was his fault, but they buyer should have done this research before signing a deal on the car.
I agree with you, the odometer fraud is pretty bad. CARFAX should pay you if they guarauntee their speedometer rollback, which I wasn't aware they did (I'm not too familiar with CARFAX). How can they possibly guarauntee there is no rollback without inspecting every car they keep a record of? That doesn't make sense to me.
The 1997 model had a mechanical speedometer cable, I thought the cable screwed into the transmission? Maybe I'm wrong, most of the Mustangs I've worked on were 1999+ Then agian maybe the (200mph?) Saleen speedo isn't mechanical.
I also thought the VIN's were coded as the car was coming out of the factory, not as it was the first time it was actually driven...
Oh well. Good luck getting some cash outta the deal
EDIT: BTW, my name's not Anthony, haha. You're not the first person to do it, and I'm sure you won't be the last. The name's Brian

| ahh you misleading bastard! <joke> ok brian heres the scoop
they did change the oil, my records and analysis came back showing the car had 50-60k on it, did two seperate labs.
car had s/c replaced (i agree, prolly due to abuse and not changing oil enough)
we found 3 sets of brakes had been done
leather on drivers seat worn, heavy
definelty two tabs on the speedo cable, on broken off.
WATER in the engine oil, HEAVY rust IN the radiator! (it takes years and MILES for coolant to break down!)
found misalgnment on the rear bumper cover, owner new the frotn bumper had been repainted, was told it was a minor cosmetic issue, rear bumper was never mentioned) found zip ties holding splash sheilds up be rear inner fenders and gas tank.
any info on 97-99 saleens you got, hit me with it baby, im all ears...
your real name wouldnt hurt either, i allready made the mistake of telling the lawyer on the case with me, "hey, some guy anthony on my board KNOWS about these cars! LOL) hey man, your going to be in a case~!
yeah carfax does guarantee against roll backs and odo fraud, aint that some ****?

| I'm no expert on Saleens, I've just been hanging out with a lot of people and a ****load of Mustangs for 3 years
You said "oil analysis showed upwards of 50-60k on it" I thought you meant the oil tested that old. It would be like lubricating your car with molasses at that point.
As for the speedo connector, don't I feel like a tard. The S-351 uses a 6-speed manual doesn't it? That would explain why they used an electronic odometer instead of the mechanical one used with the stock 5-speed
With the exception of the S-351, Saleens are just modified Mustang GT's that an average person could have built for a fraction of Saleen's price...haha.
Specifically what kind of info do you need? I'll look around, talk to some Saleen owners, and see what I can find for ya

The only info that is permanently stored in there is the number of rev limiter hits.
NOTE: You might wanna check the ECU on that S-351, I dunno what Saleen does but the rev limiter hits may still be hard-coded
