| Is an SC1 even worth modding? Would it be good to mod my saturn? I mean, its an SOHC 1.9L. I want to get a cold air intake, first off, I think the big stainless steel piping and huge cone looks sweet. My friend just got an Injen intake and I think its awesome. But would I notice anything different, acceleration and what not? Like if I got an intake and exhaust? Or should I just wait until I buy my 97 Talon TSI AWD to mod I like my saturn though, I need an honest opinion for people who know their saturns I'm willing to dish out the money and make my car a bit quicker and nicer.

| Oh yeah, about my post on the oreo cookie, I guess I have a white roof hahaha, its under the roof, by the windows, where its black. I guess that doesn't count. My pics are up, I just made a post about it. But anyway, about the modding so we don't get off topic

| yeah, that one i'm looking at...the whole roof is black...
anyway, from a speed standpoint and SC1 isn't the best choice for modding.
aftermarket support is less prevelant.
you also have the base model suspension with a smaller sway bar up front and no bar in the rear, so handeling isn't as great either.
thats not to say you can't make a single cam fast, just most times you add a slew of bolt on's and end up a little slower than a stock twin.
now i have one of each and my single is great around town and is actually quite peppy.
so the choice is yours, it can be made fun if you choose to play with it. |

| Wait until you get the DSM to mod, just be sure to keep the Saturn around for when the Talon is up on jackstands

| I have a 98 SC1, and I must say, while it isn't the fastest thing in the world, it can be made peppy. It all depends on your wants. Are you looking for something that will run 13's in the 1/4 mile or something a bit peppy around town?
I enjoy modding my SC1 to make it a bit faster. It's by no means a street monster, but it serves its purpose quite well. I like it, and I feel that depending on how you feel about your car, it is worth modding. If your going to go out and buy an AWD talon TSI then don't waste your money on the saturn, but if your gonna keep the saturn, go for it. By far the best mod you can do is swap to DOHC if thats the case.

| So no intake and exhaust? I would like it to me more peppy, but it wouldn't be extremely noticeable hey? Hmm.......

| I think it's worth modding, if you like the car why the hell not mod it? An intake and exhaust will definately help, even more with a good set of wires and NGK plugs. DSMs are nice an can be very fast but the whole reliability sucks on them, I wouldn't have a heavily modded one as a daily driver. An engine swap would probably run you $1,500-$2,000, but you could always spray a little bit of nitrous on your SOHC or even do a turbo and have a really quick saturn. |

| I have an SC1 with intake and exhaust and yes it does make a noticeable difference. I felt that the car had more response to it. Definitely worthwhile mods indeed.

| my sl1 is slow as ****. I kinda like it that way. I don't want it to be fast, then everyone would be trying to race me. And if I were to win, then pple would know me...I'm not ready for that kind of fame
