Default "Sleepy eyed" Instructions

Hell if they work for a probe why not a saturn? might wanna try?

Part's required.

1 on-off-mom toggle switch

1 in-line fuse holder (20 amp)

3 1/4 inch female spade connectors

2 1/4 inch male spade connectors

1 cable bullet connector

5 foot two core wire

5 spade covers

Pliers, wire cutters, insulation tape and about 1 hour of your time.

Description

With this mod, using the on-off-mom switch allows you to operate your lights as normal when the switch is set to on, and

gives you the sleepy eyed look when turning your lights on with the switch set to off and using the momentary toggle. You

can switch your lights off and the sleepy eyed look will remain until you toggle the switch back to on at any time.

All this mod is doing is interrupting the power supply to the "retra" fuse (fuse 12 in fuse box 20 amp).

Wiring

Wire the in-line fuse holder and two male spade connectors with covers to one end of the 2 core cable

I used a normal car fuse holder rather than bullet type to keep all the fuses alike.

On the other end of the 2 core, using the bullet connector splice another piece of wire

to one of the wires turning the two wires into three, connect the three female spade

connectors and covers. You may wish to do this after routing the wire into the car (makes

it easier to get the wire beyond the bulkhead)

this is where it starts to get differnt

Routing the wire

I found the best place to route the wire was with the main wiring loom, through the bulkhead, making a hole

in the grommet and feeding it out behind the glove box (take your time it will go eventually) Ensure you have sufficient

wire to reach your switch location, mine is located on the centre consol just behind the gear stick.

Connecting

In the fuse box locate the 20 amp "retra" fuse

Remove the fuse and insert the male spade connectors where the fuse was DON'T INSERT THE FUSE
INTO THE FUSE HOLDER YET!!

The switch

The momentary toggle switch will have 6 connections at it's rear, you will need 3 of these on one side only

In car connect the 3 female spade connectors to the on-off-mom terminals before fixing the switch into position.

Operating

Replace the fuse in the in-line connector and switch the on-off-mom switch to off.

Turn on head lights, they should light but not raise.

Toggle the switch to on, lights should raise ok.

Switch head lights off, lights should lower as normal (when momentary switch is in the on position

head light operation is standard)

Switch the toggle back to off and switch head light on.

Touch the toggle to the mom position lights should raise slightly (will raise as long as you have

the mom switch toggled on).

Switch lights off and they will stay in the "sleepy eyed" position.

Switch the toggle to on at any time and lights will lower.

Thanx for taking all that time to write that up. That's a pretty cool idea and very original (at least I've never seen it done). Now all I need is pop up lights.....

Do you have any idea how many old ladies must say that to people with those lights.
