Default Steering Column went to sh*t last night

when i picked up my car from getting detailed and cleaned for winter storage, i went to turn over the key and it did not budge. The key would not come out, nor go in. Puzzled, I started taking apart the column to see WTF was going on here. The kid that detailed my car's father came out and had a look see. (He works for Code Alarm and answers questions on the how to do's) Anyways, he got in the steering column and removed this peice of metal and a spring shot out, pulled down on this plate. Bam, key moved, but with no steering column lock now. But at least it was able to drive for my very very late date with my daughter. Very screwed up b-day if you ask me. Could be worse, outa state when this happened and paid an assload for someone to fix it.

-ill stop rambling on now, took about a hour to do, and have to get a new steering column lock now.

That kinda sucks to hear that. I know there are times when mine does that and all I do it wiggle the wheel to the center of the steering lock and it frees it right up.

That was the first thing that ever went wrong with my car-It's really depressing seeing your car getting towed away at 10 pm on a Sunday night-haha. It always happens on days and times that the shops are closed. They had to get a front lift truck because it wouldn't come out of park without the car being able to turn on...darn autos
