Default Stock SL2 -vs- Ford SVT

Has any one ever ran a stock SVT Focus? Old boy I work with challenged me and got his ass handed to him. I gotta beleive that there was a huge driver error in there somewhere. Ford claims something like 170 stock. My Saturn has like 75 k miles on it so the output probabbly dropped a bit. He has come up with excuse after excuse, but he still won't step up to bat again. Seems he got scared.

Any how looking for other opinions and experiences on this.

The SVT focus isn't really all that compared to a SL2 or SC2.

SVT Focus should be able to run high-mid to high 15s. (15.7 approx)

They make descent hp to the wheels, they're about 300lbs heavier than a saturn s-series, but they don't make much torque (got a high redline) and from what I've heard the 1st and 2nd gearing is too long for the lack of torque.

It probably takes some talent to drive that car to its full potential, which isn't really all that much. They're not as fast as the old Civic SIs which were approx. 15.5 second cars stock.

It's all about driver skill there.

I havent seen a lot of them on the road, I would have expected Ford to make an SVT Focus sedan or something. Maybe if they brought the souped up Mondeo (I think its that) i.e. the Countour that would be cool. But those little bubbles are just fugly.

The only good lookin hatchback I have ever seen is the VW GTI

Yea the 240sx is a nice looking car. THey're slower than crapp stock though. They run like `16.5 which for 150 hp and rear wheel drive just doesn't tickel my fancy. But I have to remember every car isn't a 2400 pound saturn so they aren't going to get the same kind of numbers from HP as a saturn does.

They can be made fast though, an sr20det swap or just builidng up the KA can yield some pretty good results with those cars.

Man if Saturn had just made the coupes come in rwd they would be unstoppable. THey'd be a little heavier but it wold make them faster in the end.

Him and my BF... let me tell ya. His mom is the Controller of a Nissan/Infiniti dealer. "The best car on the market" "why else would they win all of the awards?" I gues his secret crack habit is showing through. He is reachable though. His 240 doesn't run away from my SC2 by any means. He loves driving my car. WE'll teach him. As soon as I strap My T3 on the car all he will be able to do is wave!! Ha.

just realized you're in the same area as me. If your BF is in the SON240SX club (Southern Ontario 240sx club) I bet my buddy knows him.

Small freakin world for sure
