Default stupid old men (rant/story)

Well well well, so here's the story of what happened at the "show" mentioned in my "attn ct people" topic....

Every year some business in town (almost always a food place) hosts a small car show one night a week (keep in mind I've been a regular at all of them). This year its plainville pizza. They started putting out flyers for it with their pizzas about 3 weeks ago. They said nothing about the kind of car, minimum # of cylinders, fuel injected or carb (can you see where this is going), or that you have to be over 50.

So I pull up about 15 minutes after the posted start time. As I come up I see its all old muscle cars (as these shows mostly are, but back in the day they would still let anyone enter). I roll up nice and slow cuz I know fart noise hurts old guys ears and I turn the music down real low and switch it back to linkin park, cuz I also know they don't like rap. The guy at the gate lets the old thing in front of me (no idea what it was) in, so I pull up....the old jerk walks over and looks at my car, and back to his friend and back at me, they say a few words and he puts his caution tape back across the enterence. I'm like WTF is this? I didn't see an "old people only" sign anywhere. I didn't want to start anything so I park at the bar next to it and my friend and I get out to look around. No one talks to us, everyone gives us dirty looks. So I'm like screw this lets leave. As I'm walking back to the car this beat, dead old rustang (yea i was rusty) pulls up to the gate. They let him right in....and whats behind him, bone stock late 90s camaro AUTO, he gets in too. So we go back to my car, crank up eminem and blast out of parking lot with fingers high in the air, while the old men nearly die of heart attacks from the noise shock.

i know what you mean, me and a bunch of friends got kicked out of our local hangout for "trustpassing" so the next day i got buy and there is a bunch of muscle cars in the parking lot. so i was talking to a friend who's dad is a detective in Lansing (city where we hangout) and his dad told him that the cops where told to not allow any tuner cars into the parking lot, if they enter, the whole thing is broken up, then the muscle cars go back 5 min later, and it's ok for them to be there. it's so fukin gay.

dude, sorry that those old farts don't appreciate a good American car for what it is, new or old. Not all ppl over 30 are old farts, and IMHO, muscle cars and tuners should be shown side by side so ppl can appreciate the art of the auto tuner. Who knows, mebbe you interrupted a meeting of old rust buckets and they were embarrassed by your nice shiny ride? lol.

btw - we have an "old fart" uncle in his '70's in CT and he loves Saturns and tuners, he was a hot rodder for yrs and thinks it's all good, so don't let a few old coots ruin your image of old muscle car owners, many are still cool.

Here, the Home Depot let's people hang on Saturday nights in their lot from the afternoon until closing. Brings people in. All used to be able to hang after closing as well, but that changed...

Primarily, it is classics, muscle's and antiques. However there are also quite a few tuners. It was getting pretty even in numbers... so they allowed the tuners to be there Friday's and the others Saturday... of course many went to both...

Unfortunately... after a few Friday's of good times... and some people drag racing in the street out front and getting ticketed... the racers decided to move the races to behind the store instead of getting caught on the road... and they almost ran over an employee...

That ended tuners night... and almost the Saturday night show & shine... but the older generations were not pleased... so now... once the store closes... all must vacate...

That goes to show 2 things... it only takes idiots to ruin it for everyone... and yes... people can coexist...

yeh, most of the cruise ins around here that ever allowed tuners always ended up getting broken up because a few idiots would end up racing. There is one cruise in @ Steak N' Shake that has been going for a few years on tuesday nights but that is the "old Fart Show" where tuners get dirty looks and the such.

Well I knew I could find sympathy....I feel so much better now.

But seriously, at least where you guys are at there was reason to not let tuners in. This was just so uncalled for. Its jerks like those guys that give muscle car people a bad name.
