| Hey guys , it's bob. I finally did it. I scraped together enough money to buy a serious engine. I ordered the engine from Joey last week and can't wait to get it. I am planning, like Joey said, a big turbo, with big hp. Someone asked about the engine, so Here's the parts list:
I went with a 99 block bored to 2.0L's with ross pistons @ 9:1 compression, JE rings, crower rods and a bridge plate for extra strengh. I also ordered one of Joey's FAMOUS port and polished heads with flat head valves, stiffer springs, and ti retainers. To that joey is going to port match a intake manifold and to the manifold he is going to port match a 55mm throttle body. Up top Joey's throwing in some 2nd gen aftermarket cams.. The tranny will be a spec stage 3, Quiafe diff and SMS's axle kit when it comes out. I am going full standalone. I am going to try a race AEM standalone for a honda and build my own wiring harness. I will let everyone know how that pans out. I will be redoing the complete ignition and fuel systems running seperate coils for each cyl and plenty of fuel... The turbo will be a To4E I think, I am still a little unsure about that. I'm still looking at the To4b, The new HKS To4Z and Garret just came out with a crazy new hybrid turbo so I am looking at those too. The manifold.... I want to go tubular, but I need to find a place to make one, then to a 2.5 downpipe and 3" all the way out. Lag might be a small issue, but I will catch just a little further down the track...NO PROBLEM. I'm looking at going 15 psi daily and looking to push 24-25 at the track. Then maybe a 50 -100 shot if I think the engine can handle it...but probably not.. I think thats about it. I'm sure I left out some smaller things... DID I MISS ANYTHING JOEY? Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you guys know what the plan is.....
hit me back, It's cool to be here... BMAN

| welcome to post bob! and welcome to the elite few that own tkt's
right now guys guess who came over today? silent bob! and whats that mean? silent bob gets a new turbo, even though its NOT my responsibilty to cover it nor am i bound to, i am NOT going to keep making bob run back and forth for cca turbos that last one day to two weeks at best, this is ridiculous, so yes i DO warranty things EVEN whn i dont have to, but not when im TOLD i better.
we are GIVING bob a custom 2.5 exhaust, thats right , from now on we make our own exhaust in conjuction with pro power, the slicks, and well, you give me two weeks.
if i DONT hit 14's i donate 100.00 to spot. period.
no braggin, no guessing, i KNOW what the car will do with slicks, were going for high 13's but i will settle for 14's.

| with all this talk of turbos and hopped up engines I have a question. I plan to slap a turbo on my car by the end of summer. No expensive kits for me. I'm going the junkyard route So, I heard Joey say that it was BAD to turbo a stock DOHC with flat top pistons. So, would it be safe to go with SOHC pistons or is a custom forged piston necessary. Also, what engine internals would be necessary to run about 9-10 lbs of boost daily? |

| that level of boost would probably cut a stock engine's lifespan down pretty darn quickly. Of course, forged internals would be recommended, unless you'd like to try those hypereutectic silicon saturated pistons, rated for up to 10lbs boost. Turboing a stock motor, I doubt I'd fiddle with more than 7psi. But if you want to try it, more power to you. Just make dead sure that you have the fuel under control. Maybe get an Apexi to fiddle around with the mixture, and a decent A/F gauge (digital voltmeter style rather than LED) or maybe even a wideband setup if you're shooting for maximum precision. |

| I'm wondering. What needs to be strengthened the most when going for high boost? Pistons, rods, valve, what? |

| to get more boost you wanna lower compression. so forged pistons that are dished. next forged rods, then your valves

| cranks and cams aren;t really necessary, are they. I'm thinking the crower rods along with dished forged pistons would be good enough for aroun 10 lbs of boost. what kind of fuel management would I need. bigger injectors, fmu, etc? |
