just because I don't listen to it on a daily basis...i'm not dismissing the artform, just that I don't play it that often, so it'd be a waste of $18 on a CD...just like DVD's (IMO)..there's a lot of movies I like, but I know I won't watch them after the 1st time, so I won't buy it
So? You're still not giving a concrete reason

You ask a qestion about personal tastes/styles, yet you want concrete reasons for not liking it, an "it's not my6 style" isn't good enough.

I personally find it amusing

that's good..i'm glad I made you laugh! However, you DON'T listen or buy (i'm assuming on the buy) rap music...I LISTEN to country, so your previous statement isn't valid. I asked "why all the hate...?"..I don't hate country, so we're not in the same category! I just don't spend money on it for the reason above mentioned, but my question didn't pertain to who buys it...only who shows interest in it.

I personaly don't like rap because i think it is just people singing to make money, there is no feeling behind the lyrics (in most songs, not all), and IMO it takes very little talent to write a song about walking around in air force 1's (no offence skittle, i know how much you like your sneekers), or being a "rubberband man" it seems to me that they are just in it to make some money and screw a few hundred over-waight fans.

some of that is actually true(!!), but everyone doesn't give them credit. Have you (not personally) ever actually tried to write a rap song, and not any "cat-in-the-hat" type **** either...it's waaaayyy harder than what you think. You have gimmick rappers (Chingy,50 Cent) that won't last long at all and are just here to basically "cash in", but you have a ton of people w/actual talent that you're missing out on because all you see is the watered-down, mainstream people who flaunt their no-talent asses. Listen to Jay-Z, Tommy Wright III, The Roots, etc. I guarantee you'll like them.

sadly as in any other style of music its judged by the crap they play on the radio... personally i cant stand radio... i turned it on for 20min and heard 5 min of comercials and 2 songs twice (hot 97 or some sht) for most of the people that say yeah its people talking about their shoes and bling bling bullsht i agree completly thats garbage its crap it has no real content and i should use commas... w/e... the thing is that if all u ever hear is what gets airplay then u judge the whole genre by that... same w/ rock country polka w/e... and if u decide that u hate it and it sux u nvr look through underground where there acctually is hip-hop w/ content not the bullsht rap they play in clubs thats only good for getting drunk and having some girl rubb her ass on ur dck... either way just dont listen to it it serves its purpose even if its not the best one... rap is crap the moment i heard that nelly was trying to beef w/ krs-1 saying that what nelly does is hip hop i just had to laugh... its sad to see how ignorant he is to not understand that hes not doing a damn thing other than club music.... club music sells and like everyone else these guys r there to become successfull at what they do and make ass much money possible at it.... very few acctually care about wtf they say or what the consecuences r... money is the root of all evil and it blinds u...hell gimme a fking advance on and a record deal and ill make a fking club song w/ jacob the jewler on the hook talking about platinum and spinners on the saturn lol

ahh im losing it.... what was my point... if u really want to find rap w/ content its out there but do u really want to take ur time looking for it... kanye west is probably one of the few new rappers that has something decent to say... i need to listen through the album more... the roots deff good sht

skittle i dont know exactly what type of rap ur listening to or ur refering to... i need to find some decent underground i can listen to... till then im gonna stay stuck on some 95-99 pac wu and pun ill throw a few others in there once in a while

sex drugs and violence?
tell me where the phrase sex drugs and video tape comes from... i think im making a point here but i forget...

profanity - i love gnn and i play it loud when i do play it theres a good amount of profanity there

sex - come on really what music doesnt have sex being related to it... classical? i do love women in bustiers lol sex sells its nothing more than marketing and kids, puberty and money to spend on cds yeah all marketing

drugs - classic rock i love it jimmy zeplin and all those dumb mfers that oded b4 the could even fully be appreciated drugs r everywhere its sad when i think about how people poke smot and beleive theres nothing wrong w/ it but wtf do i care thats them the sad thing is when u see a 7-8-9-10 yr old bloodshot red and fked up heroine kurt cobain and them pot just about everybody coke hah those that can afford it crack its obvious pills all the fking ravers and x heads bars all that sht... just gimme my bottle of JD and im good... oh alcohol another drug prohibition the 20's the great gatsby

violence - thats in everything i dont mosh i bruise easily but thats just an easy observation that moshing is violent so its not just in rap

idk what else is there... imo the messages havent changed but the form of delivering them have changed from books tv movies music computers magazines w/e u can find drugs sex and violence in everything... just look for it the bullsht is easier to find then decent content...

hell im so disillusioned w/ the way rap has turned around in the last few yrs that i barely even freestyle anymore its sad but theres too few people that acctually take care w/ what they say... so were stuck w/ the dr. seuss mother goose i got my bat and my hat w/ a gat blah blah bullsht...
its tru

i may just endup listening to grindcore if i ever get that killwhitneydead cd

damn i nvr even expected to type this much bs...

well im done w/ my rant... (insert stupid comment here)

p.s. a little quote from tupac that may help understand a bit "u gotta make music for the btches, the btches will buy ur record and the nggas want what the btches want" not the best way to say it but the more i think about it the truer it is

mainstream rap just plain is not good music, the lyrics are half-asses at best, they are all basically the same song how the artist or 50 artists party with *****es and hoes, do drugs, then cap the dude down the street.

Now I don't hate rap, if thats your bag more power to you personally I have heard entirely too many good freestyles to a drum and bass beat to ever go to listening to rap, lyrics not about *****es and hoes but about anything from super mario(yes I have a super mario freestyle and it's damn funny) to political issues

I listen to rap when I get drunk...cause well....that's what they play at house parties where there's free booze. I never said I hate rap either, making your previous statment invalid

I don't show interest in it, if this is what you're waiting to hear.

i was in a band. a black/deathmetal band. i was the lead vocalist and i played keyboards.

i also wrote 100% of all of our lyrics. i worked with five other talented guys and we all genuinly cared about the music. it was hard work but we wrote everything and played everything.

and it got us nowhere.

now some dude who can hardly dress himself is going to talk quickly about non-sense over a computer generated base and drum loop, set to the same video featuring half dressed crack whores, expensive german cars with ugly spinner wheels and the oh-so-original fish eye lense shot.

and he is a millionare.

to me rap is the symbol of decay in the music industry.

now although my musical fortay is melodic blackmetal, that draws influences from rock, classic rock, classical and even opera.

aside from that i enjoy contry and most forms of techno (prodigy, chemical brothers)

is that a good enough answer, or would you like me to elaborate a little more.
