When poeple talk bad about SOHCs that makes me so mad. That was a bold statement that fool said saying "I have no respect for SOHC saturns." It's people like that I have no respect for, people I would not want to share the same bord with. I'm glad I'm here on this board, every person here seems cool and is not a jackass like some there on the other boards. I'm going to delete my profile from their board. Lee, after hearing all of that BS talk over there I'm sticking with the SOHC. We will see who has respect for who when their in my rearview.

Matt I completely agree with you. Even though I have an MPFI SOHC I had to prove myself worthy against my friends and stuff. Well those days are over, I have won races against some of my friends and surprised others as well. That tsrygley83 guy needs a beating. No respect for SOHC saturns? Why own a saturn in the first place? SOHC saturns have more torque off the line and a more flat torque curve. That won't win races as the DOHC can catch up, but if you mod your SOHC just right, you can make your car a hell of a lot faster than it originally was. And to be honest with you, even though some of you DOHC people might laugh at this, I think mid 15's are a good time at the track. All things aside, my SOHC runs 17.3 in the 1/4 (my first time at the track). With a bit more practise I can get into the high 16's. Now you take a car that is slow (especially SOHC saturns) and shave off 2 seconds in the 1/4 that is a big achievement. Huge achievement. I want to do it while staying all motor, but that is only a hope as I don't want to go crazy. If I can make my car go mid to low 16's I'll be happy.

If tsrygley83 ever wants to talk more ****, point him to Fonzo. That guy has a fast SOHC that could kick his DOHC ass anyday. As for me, I have respect for any saturn. Sure some might be slower than me, alot may be faster than me, but the point is I don't dog on the guys slower than me b/c I was once there too (and still am actually).

The only time I'll laugh at someone is when they try to do the impossible or look dumb. You know the guys that try to race the vettes with their fart can sportin civics, or corollas. The guy that thinks he's the **** with his 9 foot high wing and 5 color interior theme. The guy that is driving a rental trying to race everyone with it, thinking he is awesome (even though its not his car). Those kinds of people.

<rant>
Point is guys, have respect for those of us sportin the saturns. We are all for one cause, and one cause only. Growth of the saturn aftermarket. No need to make fun of a guy with a first gen SOHC, what good are you doing by rejecting one within your own community. I'll admit, out of the box, first gens are not my favorite looking saturn, but alot of you make them stand out quite tastefully. I respect that. I also respect that each of us here, have taken a car often overlooked, and makes it either faster, more attractive, louder or all three. Good job guys. I salute you. <\end of rant>

Hey Saturnd00d, I've never heard of the SOHC Fonzo has. Tell me more about it or where I can see pics. I'm sure it is fast if he done it up, he knows his way around saturns.

I agree with you, that's retarded to single out the ones that may not be as fast as you. Sure I don't have the fastest SOHC, niether do I have the slowest. I'm not going to say to someone who has a slower car than mine "Hey your car sucks, mines faster." That stupid and 3rd grade bull**** talk. If someone has a SOHC or DOHC saturn, or any kind of car for the the fact and not have their head stuck up their ass thinking they're the greatest, they get my respect. I proved myself to my friends too, and they're impressed with my car seeing me beat cars they didn't think I might win against. People on saturnspeed were saying "Oh the roadrunn sl1 sucks, 15.2 that sucks." Well I think that's prety damn impressive myself, since the cars ran a 18.2 stock and a best of 15.2 in the 1/4, shaving 3 seconds. I don't have much respect for some of those people there on saturnspeed. If they can't have respct for what I'm doing, or any SOHC owner. Why should I have any respect for them? Sure I may not like someones cars or what their doing, but just coming out and saying it, that is childish to me. I don't give a damn though. If people don't like my car or what I'm doing to it, so be it. I like my and that's all I care about.

so true. How many times do I come across someone with an aluminum wing, or washer nozzles, or some APC crap on their car and bash them for it. If I don't like it, I would SUGGEST their ride might look better without this or that, but not thattheir car sucks or should be run off the road or something. Opinions are fine, but bashing is not. I also agree with you when you said about if they don't respect us, why should we respect them?

It takes one kind of person to just buy a fast car, but it takes a completely different person to make a car fast(er). If I was interested in buying a fast car, I would (within budget). However I was attracted to my style SC so thats why I bought it. I read up and saw that saturns are generally pretty reliable cars, and I knew they looked good, so what the hell. Now you get guys like tsrygley83 who think if you have anything less than a DOHC saturn, you shouldn't get respect. Well, **** him. Who is he to say I can't get respect? For his ****in information, I couldn't afford insurance on a DOHC saturn at the time and I still wanted this body style, so I got one with a SOHC. MY ****IN CHOICE. If he doesn't respect me, or even guys like him don't respect me, **** them too. I don't need their respect to survive. I can earn it myself. I will always respect my fellow saturn buddies as long as they do the same for me. Whether you have a faster saturn, a slower saturn, 1st gen, 2nd gen, or even 3rd gen, I couldn't care less. I will give respect to those who deserve it (people who aren't *******s like tsrygley83).

That goes with other cars too, if I see someone who is dedicated to improving their car, or someone who is just proud of their car, thats all I need to see for them to get my respect. Guys who just have their heads up their asses b/c they think their car is fast, no respect from me.

By the way Fonzo has a 92 SL1. It is fast as stink. Thats all I know. Also it has nitrous. He does his own headwork, port matching and whatever else. This is only what I have heard from other board members over at xtremesaturn, I heard he runs mid 13's with nitrous alone. He has a built up motor and nitrous and does that time, so his SOHC is pretty damn fast.

Hey Joey, I know you guys don't like eachother anymore, but do you know any more details about his car? I don't want you to post about him being dumb or anything or how bad his welding is, just want to know about his car if you happen to know. Thanks.
