Default wtf is the deal here...

If anyone has seen "44 minutes the L.A. shootout" on FX, you know what I'm talking about here. If you haven't seen it, its where these guys robbed a bank, and wearing full body armor, and ak 47's. Killing cops left and right. What gets me is that not one single cop aimed for the head or anywhere else. If it were me in that situation, i would've shot them sumuma *****es in the forehead. If you see them wearing bullet proof vests, why the hell would you keep trying to shoot them?

weren't they wearing protection on their heads too? The first guy went down with a neck shot, and the last guy went down apparently after the armor finally gave out against so many bullets at close range.

Unless they had teflon coated bullets it would be a waste of time shooting at the vest. An AK47 would shoot through a bullet proof vest.

I've seen the footage before. It was pretty cool how the one guy was walking down the street and the cops couldn't do anything. The sad part is the family is sueing the cops because at the end of the thing the ambulance came in and took the injured cops first while the one guy bled to death

I think the head shot theory is logical. Most of the cops are probabbly trained to shot to stop, not shoot to kill. There are deadly force esclation levels that a police office must apply, but in that situation, I say kill or be killed and it is better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6

actually if the police pull their guns they are supposed to shoot to kill....there arent supposed to be any warning shots, but we all see that doesnt happen

First off, several cops were injured, but none were killed. Second, the cops didn't want to kill the men. They were hoping to wear them down. Also, the cops were not able to hit the heads, they couldn't get close enough and their aim isn't that good, the men were constantly moving. Cops don't want to kill people, it's that simple. They were just trying to keep them contained.

Also, their weapons couldn't penetrate the body armor. I think a better question would be; why were the cops more underequipped than the nearby gun store where they took some of the weapons that finally did the job.

You ARE talking about the video from several years ago right? There wasn't some new copycat robbery I hope. If so, then I am probably way off.

Cops are trained to shoot for the chest, not the head.

ditto, no cops were killed. The first guy was taken out by a neck shot, then died. The second guy killed himself....
