WTF is this strange wireless network popping up?

Ok two weird things happened today.

First, some credit report company charged 80 bucks on my credit card. I of course did not do it, I had never even heard of this company. So I had to call and get that straightened out. They had my email, credit card number, address, etc. There was some screwy things though, like the email was my personal email, not the one I use for business transactions and the likes. Secondly one of the "secret questions" was supposed to be my fathers middle name but the answer was his first name, which is the only name he uses with his last on any official paperwork.

So what gives? Is that some kind of automated crap that got ahold of my info and signed me up? I hot carded that particular card so no more transactions can be made with its number.

Anyways, now I'm at home. I have 3 pcs on my network. I have a wireless-B Broandband Router. Cable internet goes into router, two desktops hook with cable to router, and laptop is wireless.

So I restart my computer after a game gets laggy and I can't connect to my network on my desktop. Says I didn't get an ip address assigned or something and windows couldn't fix it. I fixed it by cutting the power to all my equipment.

But heres the weird part. When I start up my laptop it picks up a strange wireless network. (I live in an apartment complex for what its worth). The name of this wireless network is as follows, exactly:

iamwatchingyou

WTF???????? I connected my laptop, the connection speed is different than mine.

I managed to get a physical address, and ip and a subnet mask on this wireless connection if that means anything.

Is this just somebody in my complex with a dumb name for a wireless network, am I in danger of being hacked or having my privacy violated? Whats going on?

EDIT:

Ok so heres what I just did I cut the power to just my routher. My two little internet computers on the two desktops got a red X over them. The laptop didn't. However my browser on the laptop couldn't load any websites, it said they couldn't be found. When I cut my router back on, I could load websites on my laptop again.

I just manually switched my laptop wireless connection in the "available wireless connections" window. I moved it from iamwatchingyou to what I know is my wireless connection. The connection speed and strenght changed. I get an excellent connection on mine and a good on iamwatchingyou.

So has someone somehow made a clone network using my router or something? Are they using my internet connection, is theirs interfering with mine, what do you think is going on?

you need some seriouse firewalls, the firewalls built onto your wireless routers arent enough, this can get really seriouse, believe me i'm an apprentice to my schools network class and PC teacher, this is very dangerouse in some cases.

First your wireless connection gets hacked, then your info is remotely stolen from the outside source, there are a ton of undetectable programs that copies your entire process functions of your PC then makes a "clone" or your running system on his PC and steals your info.

if he is using a sloppy home made hack, your mouse will move on its own sometimes when you arent moving it, you will notice some of the things the attacker is doing i.e. screen blinking indicates the opening of folders or running programs under your nose.

if you need more info or help PM me or whatever.

the money spent was probably a test to see if he had complete access of your credit car, if you hadnt canceled in time, major money could have been stolen.

another thing, if he has a connection to your network, he is most likley pirating your ISP and hitching a free ride.

If you want to nail this guy try contacting Microsoft, give them the info if his IP, subnet, etc. and they will crack down on him. or find a service linked with credit theft, or identity theft and seek their help. nail this jerk.

what kind of friendless social lepers were you guys as kids? when you were little, you never sat around telling ghost stories with other people? never got drunk in college and did the same thing? do yourself a favor, pull your head out of your tailpipe and get out a little.
