Default XX Nights in a Saturn

ive been gone for a bit because...i've been living in my car for the last 5 days now. i had a huge money "issue" with my old room mate in the place we were staying in so i packed up the sc2 and called it a 'motor home'.

i take showers at my friends house i cant stay there because the land lady watches to see who's letting people move in all the time..it's a mexican community. i go to work which is a 9 hour shift. sometimes i open, sometimes i close. if i close, i go to the rooftop of this parking structure and camp out in the car. it's not THAT bad as im saving a lot more money. i plan on getting a studio apartment soon..

i have a power inverter, portable stove top thing [single burner], cell phone with 2.5 mb/s internet [helio], clothes in the trunk, toiletries and what not stashed in a bag, a skateboard, ramen, 1 single small frying pan, a portable tv and a ps2.

it's been an experience. its not THAT bad though. sometimes when i skate to work [when i dont park in the parking structure..it costs money from 8am - midnight] so in order to park freely, i have to be out before 8am and in when im ready to go to sleep] i see homeless people just sleeping all over the sidewalk [downtown long beach]. i always imagine what it'd be like if i was in that position and im thankful i have what LITTLE i do have.

i DO cook in my car though. i plug my "stove" into my power inverter and sit it on the ground outside [next to the door]. i cook easy stuff like chicken, flap meat [carne asada], or just warm up canned foods like [beef stew]. i also heat up water for cup of noodles.

i have to wake up at 7:45 in the morning and move my car out of the parking structure. i still have to do laundry so i go to the laundry mat down the way. there were times when my friend wasnt home so i had no choice but to "take a shower" in the laundry mat bathroom [which is suprisingly clean..for a laundry mat].

it's rough but im getting thru it. i hope it doesn't take too long to get into an apartment. i still have to put gas in the car [not much], pay bills [cell phone, credit card, insurance] and i eat out when im too lazy to cook.

i find it amazing that i can have all my junk in a small 96' sc2, and still manage to sleep comfortably in it. i'm 6'6".

anyway, i just thought i'd let you guys know what's up..see ya.

+1 - props to treating it like an adventure, and not some horrible terrible thing where life, God, and everyone hates you. I bet you're saving a TON of money (esp. over paying rent in cali )

Gee this sounds like that commercial I use to see on tv where some guy claimed he could live in his. Can't remember which kind of car though.

Hope things look up for you soon! Like previous posts, cool you're treating it as an adventure. Take care and keep us posted.

Good to hear you're making things work man. Sounds like quite an experience. I know what you mean by cooking chicken, Ramen noodles, cans of soup, etc. In that respect I can see exactly where you're coming from, bills can be a PITA, no matter where you're living.

Best of luck getting things set up on the apartment. California's no joke when it comes to real estate or rent.

so true. my plan is to get a studio apartment soon. i just want extra money saved so i dont have to worry much. studios in downtown long beach are about $500+ depending on where you go. it'll get done...

it'd suck to get rid of my sc2 also. my friend wants it and i want my elantra. i think im going to get an 06' or something if i can otherwise it's going to be like an 01+. i've got lots of good memories in the saturn now though. i live in the damn thing...
