Default Yet another political question....

Ok, who was the greatest president we've ever had, and why?

I'd have to agree with Em on that. I should be a good Lancaster Citizen and say Buchanan, but I hear his presidency didn't do wonderfully.

I'd have to say Lincoln over Washington. Pretty much all presidents before Lincoln kept slaves around. Lincoln was guilty of this for a time in his life, but he saw that there was a better way and he had slavery abolished. Good guy.

Here's some trivia for you American types: Who was Canada's greatest Prime Minister? I'd have to mention only ones I can remember, and the last one that was any good at all was Lester B. Pearson in the 1960's. Since then Parliment has been ruled by a string of Liberals who've dismantled our military, and spent us into the ground. Just think: within my lifetime the Canadian dollar has gone from being worth more than the US dollar to the pathetic wreck that it is now.

One PM that some of you might remember was Pierre Elliot Trudeau. He was a Liberal leader in 3 decades (60's, 70's and 80's.) I didn't like his weak military strategies, or his spending habits, but at least he made faces behind the Queen's back, on camera.

avoiding the battle of washingtom and lincon, two great leaders who actually cared about the country.

i'm going to say John F. Kennedy. mainly for the space race, and the avoidance of the cuban missle crisis.

the space race really united the courty behind a common goal "we choose to go to the moon, not because it is easy, but because it is hard!" and brought hope to so many during the cold war.

Clinton may be easy to make fun of, but he did do great things with the economy. The economy is one of the biggest issues for me today. Gotta have money.

Brandon, without discussing it any further since it's sort of off topic....but your point can be argued.

I sort of think that whole issue is kind of how you want to see it, but.....

I'm gonna have to disagree with that one........while the economy did change while he was in office, I see no proof that he had anything to do with it at all. The economy changes because of what the people do, how the live, what they buy, how much money flows through the hands of the individuals.
