| K don't mean to bring this back up but I got a familiar Q. At about 70 my car is at about 3000 RPMs. I'm going to South Carolina this weekend. About how many MPG am I getting at this speed? I heard you get best gas mileage at 55MPH but that's too slow.
I have a 5 speed SOHC btw.
I just seem to be getting bad gas mileage latly. I go through a quarter tank probaly in two days, and that's with easy driving to, shifting at about 2 some RPMs. Going on the highway for 15 minutes to go out to the mall, I can tell easily my needle moved. That's traveling at about 70 MPH... Hmm
I got new plugs and a filter about a month ago too. |

| that all depends on the state of your engine and soo many other factors. its impossible to say
i know on the highway in my car (80mph) I get about 45mpg, granted I dont have a power steering pump dragin on my engine, and I have a warm air intake. I forget what my window sticker claims about mpg highway, but I think its 32.

keep in mind, sc's have a tiny fuel tank compared to a lot of vehicles. at a 100-120 miles a proper running DOHC is going to use a quater of a tank of gas. Or mine does anyway, and thats with me driving it hard. Also if you drive with the windows down, that number is lowered by about 10. I would assume that with the SOHC those numers would be slightly better. |

I got new plugs and a filter about a month ago too. | You need to actually calculate your MPGs to see if it's reasonable or not. Top off your tank and write down the odometer reading. Then drive for a while, until you need to fill up again. Top it off (always just fill until the pump shuts itself off - don't try to cram more fuel in after the auto-shutoff unless it shuts off way early) and note the gallons it took to fill it up. Subtract the odometer reading from before from the current odometer reading to see how many miles you drove, then divide that by the amount of fuel you had to put in. That'll give you the MPGs. I don't think I've ever had below 28MPG in my '99 SC1 manual. Quote: |

The fuel tank is 12.1 gallons (per the manual for my '99 SC1). The most I've ever put into mine was 11.768 gallons. |

| yea I know mine is 12gal
the low fuel light comes on at 2gal left in tank, in case anyone is wondering. I have been jsut driving around in town, (work friends etc) untill my light comes on. Being in the city, its never more than a few miles to a gas station.
