Default Can rear sway bar be bolted on........

I was wondering if a rear sway bar can be bolted onto a SOHC car from a DOHC, without any modifications to make it fit? Will it bolt right up?

I know that it is possible, but you would need the mounting brackets for the sway bar to fit. I dont know if they have to be welded or if you can just bolt them up.

To boost or not to boost? What do you think?

sps sells a kit so you can put a rear sway bar on a SOHC.

Why buy when from sps when i can go to a local junkyard and pick one up for a little time and hardly any money. I know it may not be as big as a SPS one, but any rear sway bar is going to be a improvement over none. Just wanted to know if the brackets and sway bar could be bolted up?

I think the brackets to mount the sway bar have to be welded on.

This is exactly what I did. I bought the complete rear subframe from a '94 SW2 at a junkyard for $40. This included the sway bar, links and disc brakes!

In order to bolt up a sway bar to the SOHC rear subframe you must weld in the proper brackets (which is what SPS sells). I personally think it is just easier and cheaper to get a junkyard unit.

And on top of it you get disc brakes on the rear to boot.

My DOHC from 1996 has bolt in brackets. It would have probably been cheaper for Saturn to add the bolt locations in all models..

Yeah, if you don't get the whole rear sub frame you’re going to have to get a plate to weld onto the frame. Which could be made fairly easily, you've just got to get the design. Everything else you could pull off a junker. I just installed the SPS kit and red sway bar on my car and it's a VERY worthwhile mod.

Well since I"m a do it myself type of guy. And the SPS kit gets a big thumbs down by you, I will probably make my own. Brackets can't be all that hard to make.
