| Disconnecting coolant hoses on intake? My first post nice board.
I was looking at my car and although there isn't throttle body coolant hoses, there are some in the intake...are these just for cold weather driving or do they serve a cooling purpose?
Can they be capped off on a daily driver for more power?

| ask joey in tech section, but i would not expect anything good to happen by capping them off, no performance gain. i don't know what car you have, but there are a lot of other ways to get some more hp out of it. tell us about your car and what you have already done to it, and we can tell you what we have already tried and found out what works and what doesn't .

| did you make your air intake a cold air intake? underdrive pulleys? intake port matched to your 55 mm tb? run cooler coolant(add water wetter to it or mix a 50/50 antifreeze with distilled water-either lower temp by about 10 degrees). lower aspect tires for gearing difference-more off the line launch? just some ideas since i don't know you or your car yet. you may have thought of them already yourself since you've done a lot of work on it already.

| this really is outside the scope of my question....I have been on the other boards since 2 or so years ago, just new here....I will wait for Joey to respond, he knows me and my car, but:
cold air is not something I did yet, but will in the future...
no underdrives, but again I will do that...I am looking for a free mod now not a $200 one.
waterwetter was added already
Just really want to know about the coolant lines in the intake manifold |

| I've heard of people bypassing these coolant lines to keep their intake charge cooler...
they used a piece of copper tubing about the same diameter as the hoses and just run that tube around where it enter and exits the intake....
so get sum tubing and 2 hose clamps and bypass it

| as hot as it gets down here year round wouldnt that actually allow the metals heat to build up and stay hotter longer, after shutting down the underhood temps are phenominal down here, and it comes to mind that the metal would retain heat better and longer without coolant flowing through them. anyone posted an actual gain by doing this? curious myself now.
