well, if you want to get into semantics then sure, they increase effective but not actual displacement.

The 5.0 in the Focus wasn't really that hot. I believe it was still in a very streetable, under 500 hp range. The biggest factor would probably be that the Focus doesn't weigh nearly as much as the Marlon Brando-esque Mustang whale wagon.

Add to that a good four link setup in the rear with 4.11s and you've got a really really really fast car.

The Focus? That thing wasn't too hot. I don't think it even had 300 horses, did it? Just the swap and RWD. It would be quite interesting if the RWD NorthStar will fit inside of a saturn. And there's a company that makes 500+ h.p. kits for 'em too.
