| E Ram Anybody ever try one of these things? http://www.electricsupercharger.com/.../Autoframe.htm
They say it will produce up to 15 hp, so I'm guesing arond 5 hp if it really puts out 1 pound of boost like it says. Now of course neither me or my freind is going to lay down 300 bones for this thing but I have seen plans for them on ebay for just a couple of bucks. Whats everybodies opinion on this thing? |

| You can get an actual turbo for that much money, and be able to get MUCH more out of it in the end. According to the site literature, the thing only comes on at WOT anyway because the electric motor won't last under frequent usage, they even admit it. For what it is, I consider it little more than a pretty boat exhaust pump. Granted, it may be a slightly better design than the $20 ebay units and actually capable of providing marginal power increase, but even so it's a marginal increase only available at WOT. Save your money on something that can provide real power, and has more capability for tuning and adjustment. |

| We've done some testing with something very similar to the "E-Ram" in the garage. The fan we were using was, like theirs, and "axial flow unit." (fan in a tube!)
Well sure, we got about 1 pound of extra pressure out of the thing, and what were the results? Squat.
The extra special bonus is that when the fan's not turned on, it actually inhibits airflow and makes your car slower!

| Put it this way:
a fan can flow CFM's.
Big ****in whoop.
It can't compress them.
8K RPM compressor won't do jack. Turbos spin at 60K RPM+. You really think a fan will do didly ****?

| Hell, if you're going to used forced induction on your Saturn, there's a lot of options, and no need for the scams.
If you really want an electric supercharger, there is one available that uses a Vortech supercharger unit, with a big electric motor attached to the side. TONS of boost, even for big honkin V8s.
Get a used Vortech kit for a Mustang 5.0. It fits where the A/C is supposed to go with an adaptor plate. The extra bonus, reconfigure the plumbing that comes with it and you don't have to buy any extra.
Do some poking around and you'll find lots of options. And stay off the nitrous, thats just cheating!

Example: Nopi Nationals-Kugel Components shows up with their prototype V8 conversion Focus. Nothing fancy under the hood, just a nice little 5 liter V8, with stock body, and full interior. They whupped pretty much everything there except for the carbon fibre bodied nox/turboed purpose built tube framed cars. They were quietly asked to leave. The nice thing is that you can buy their V8 conversion kit and bolt it in yourself.
