There are nice exhaust systems out there other than resorting to cutting off your muffler. The smaller the pipe you have, the more buzzing and "rice" sound you will have. Your best bet is you find a 91/92 DOHC header (if you have a 91 - 98 DOHC engine) and mount that along with a nice 2" - 2.25" exhaust followed by a muffler bu choice of Moroso, MagnaFlow, DynoMax, Flowmaster, etc.

well i like the ricey sound. but heres the question, ok, what if i cut off my muffler, slap a glass pack on? will it sound any deeper that just cutting off the muffler? and if i run it like that will i lose too much backpressure and mess up my car?

If you like the ricey sound/car sounding like **** sound, cut off the resonator and replace it with straight pipe.

thats right lol, loud=fast. well, my friend wants to start out of the manifold with 2.5'' pipe, go to a bigger cat., then go to a glasspack. i know this will sound deep and everything but im short on cash for now, so ill save that project for later. so i know how my car sounds without the muffler, ricey and high pitched. if i replace my muffler with a glasspack will it sound deeper at all? oh, BTW (im 17, loud=cool to me) lol

No, putting just another glasspack on will not make it sound deep. It will just sound loud and like crap. My friend did that exact thing and took it off after no more than 10 minutes and replaced it with a cheap muffler from NAPA and it sounded 10 times better. If that gives you any idea how nasty it is.

Large exhaust on a N/A car sounds like **** unless you have a nice resonator on it with a nice muffler.

I disagree with almost everyone on this one. My old car had a stock exhaust with nothing but an RActive crap fart can on it, ever similar to that fleebay muffler someone posted. I got compliments everywhere I went about how nice it sounded, from Civic rice boys to muscle guys.

Then I got a 2.25" mandrel catback (don't remember who made it or if they're still around) and it sounded even better.

But with just that muffler on the stock exhaust it sounded fine. Almost the same deep tone as a WRX but without the uneven harley sound.
