Default How much can a 5 speed Getrag Muncie tranny handle?

I was looking at this guy's Cavalier and he swapped in the Supercharged 3.8L from the GTP, and he said he is using the 5 speed getrag "muncie" from a 2000 Cavalier. My question is--how much can this tranny take? I saw cavalier and my jaw dropped--I wouldnt think that tranny could take 240+ HP. Can someone shed some light on this topic for me? Also I would like to know what "muncie" is. Oh yeah here is the link to the cav...

Thanks guys

i've seen the 5 speed getrag hold up behind a nitrous injected 383. a supercharged LT-1, a supercharged and turbocharged series 1 3800 and just about anything else you can think of. they're pretty stout little trannys.

I've seen that car before and I agree, that's amazing. Huge props for even an attempt to make that project work. That car will be really f*cking fast when they are done.
